Hi compro_1975,
Hi richardg,

Your post is a classic example of wholesale-copy-and-paste most Singaporeans do.
its copy and paste alright but not wholesale .. only sections which i infer to be relevant..
ie. related to employment.
TS asked "how young........ to be shot?" , I suggest that the age
i) should be treated just like any other age for employment and
ii) extracted the sections of the Singapore statutes which i thot was relevant to employment

i think thats helpful work and info and not the "classic example of wholesale-copy-and-paste most Singaporeans do", u suggested.

I refrain from doing that because it can (1) infringe copyright
The wordings in the quotes should have already suggested that they are part of the statutes hence were not mentioned but I should have.
Statutes i dun think are literary works which are copyrightable.
Although I suspect they contain the creative element as well to adapt to local conditions.

Are u Singaporean bashing?
Its a poor attempt.

, or (2) suggest poor interpretational ability. Just state the link would do, and let readers interpret it themselves, or seek legal advice.

link? one more click? why?

huh? moi seek legal advice? u had a bad day? have u been following the thread.
no doubt following it may require some interpretational ability.

just trying to help out TS lah, moi no need for legal advice on this matter.
are you with us?

No offence intended.
huh?? poor attempt to bash and then this??
hypocritical.

Good on you for seeing the contradiction. In a western countries such as Australia, it's made very clear that 18 is the age of adulthood, and this is the age applied to modeling (clothed or nude).

where is the contradiction? difference ages for different matters? seems reasonable.
TS question is specific to age for modelling.
why must there be a universal age for "adulthood" to which all matters apply?

In Singapore, you could suspect that people are conveniently and quite blindly following laws set by other countries. Maybe, they have to because the ministers haven't sat down to decide it and pass it in the bill.

are you a lawyer specialising in countries' laws?
is adaptation of other countries law practised by SG only?
one would think this is the most prudent way of doing it.
there is nothing like something already put into practise.

any substantiation or speculative Spore (minister) bashing again?

If anything, I would say, like what many guys would say, do anything but just don't get caught. Still, one day, somebody will surely screw-up and get caught, and new laws will be made.

by screwing up u mean breaking the law?
jeez..

Ok I thought I should just offer my two cents, as I'm in sch of Film & Media studies (taking Dip. FSV at Ngee Ann Poly)

Any model below 18 is considered a minor. To use any footage containing him/her, parental consent is needed on a talent release form.

Any model above 18 is deemed fit to make decisions for himself/herself. However, to use any footage containing him/her, he/she will still need to indicate his/her consent on the same abovementioned talent release form.

aiyo it is the same thing mah

16.5 yo can enlist for NS... can learn to kill ... cannot smoke cannot watch RA
18 yo already 3sg in camp... finally can smoke... but still cannot watch RA...

hehehe funny right?

no problem;) i believe many photogs would know abt the model release;) many here use the US ver. which consider 18 to be the age... UK is 21 if i am not wrong:)

Not forgetting about the recent case....

singapore 18 years old can carry rifle and kill people, in UK the model need to be 21? make you think huh?

You think, He think, I dunno.
End up it's a bogeyman that everyone thinks is there but dunno if there's such a thing as a bogeyman.
Let's pretend I have zero knowledge of law.

So suppose I did a unpaid shoot with an 11 year old.
I didn't bother with a model release form.
What can I get caught/arrested/charged for?
Can anyone enlighten me with proper legal references to the Singapore law?

As far as I know, as long as I've not broken ANY criminal law, there's nothing wrong.

TFCD or TFP sure there is no charges aka fees so no law broken, since both parties knew abt this...
the parents can press charge if the photos are been missed use such as in a child-p. web;)
and of cos, black and white is just a protection it may not be a must, but no harm requesting either from the model part of photog's part

This thread i see page 2 only i know started by who. :bsmilie:

hmm.. at 16 u can have it but with your eyes closed i guessed  .. at 21 u can starts open your eyes while having it...

ust curious, whats the minimum age for marriage? (i wanna get hdb flat soon! haha, just joking)

u can get married any age as well as with parental consent if u are under 18.. but if u are under 16 when married.. then u may need to wait till 16 b4 u can do it.. or may need parental consent too.. :dunno:

so.. under 16 cant shoot! at 16 can shoot but with eyes closed and (PG) parental guidence needed.
at 21 can shoot with your eyes open and without any parental supervision..

cheers.. happy shooting and shooting!

for what I know, you can shoot anyone at any age, (non nude) don't need any model release, model release come into play is when you need to publish the works, if you don't intend to publish it, why need a model release?

anyway, if your shoot anyone which is a minor in nude, who can define you are produce art piece or child pornography from your works??

With or without model release, parent consent also no use. in short, you are asking for trouble.

A lot of people are giving their "thinks" without any sources of authority to back up what they are saying. Most of these "thinks" are gathered from a hotpotch of other "thinks" exchanged on non-authoritative sources or kopitiam talks. They then transmit their "thinks" to other people who in turn, get reinforced that their own "thinks" are correct. Unfortunately, none of them have any authoritative sources to base their thinks on. I've yet to find someone who is able to show authoritative sources or references to say that model releases are required under Singapore laws, whether it is for publication, for use, for shooting, or anything at all. And I doubt there's any laws that say that anyone must be of any age to be shot as a model (unless someone can show them). I concur with Unseen.
