I guess I'm gonna be the 2nd pollmaster after the Great Mr Paul Yeo.

Inspired from another thread in another forum, people are saying, "How disciplined and nice other country's people are. Clearing their own trays and so on."

I'm wondering how many of u clear ur own trays at food courts and fast food restaurants?

Erm... ur own tray after eating. Unless the cleaner is roving like a hawk beside u when u're eating and clear with supersonic speed...

i go food court like once in a blue moon... cos normally ppl packet lunch back for me. then when i go, when i finish, the aunties will be beside me clearing for me... problem i always see is whenever i found a seat, always the table is dirty, then nobody clear... talk about strange...

i admit i being a fallen human being, is lazy and unwilling to carry the tray back bcos of the hassle to carry all the way to the collection point.

From Pri 1 to Sec 4, ten years of education with teachers chasing after us to return the trays, plates, cups to the collection points... how many of do it?

if you clear your own tray all the time, there will be no use for the cleaner. he/she may lose his/her job. :(

then what will they work as? :dunno:

if people who return their tray in hawker centre can get a certain rebate of what they paid, people confirm will return!

if return their tray in restaurant can rebate the 10% service charge, people sure return :bsmilie:

they can be re-deployed to other positions which are previously taken up by foreign talents. so in the long term, less foreign talents, and all of us will be happier

clean up the mess, as people misplace items in to the return area:bsmilie:

I used to work at Delifrance @ Gleneagles Hospital. Did pretty much everything including serving customers AND clearing the trays.

I guess i didn't feel much, just a part time job, so naturally did what i suppose to. Its gets kinda crazy when theres so many people in the morning and you have to do the serving, clearing and cleaning at one go...

Things are pretty different in other countries, where you hire people to do the clearing of trays exclusively. In Singapore i guess people expect the people working there to clear the trays for you...

There have been cases where customers "help you" clear the tray because the person working has so much to do at hand that he can't be expected to clear when he has so many customers to handle -.-"

0.o

How many of you here would take up a job as a construction worker if you were jobless?

We all know the truth. A lot of the so-called "foreign talent" are actually doing jobs that no Singaporean wants to do. At least majority of what you're talking about, if I'm not wrong.

In any case, stop detracting from the topic. In any case, I clear when the cleaner appears too busy. Or the place is packed. And even if I don't when the cleaner clears it for me a thank you is not too hard to give.

I used to eat at food courts almost everyday since I worked at office in a shopping centre. You will very seldom see people clear their own trays, contrary to the poll results here. Really hard to see anyone clearing trays.

Thats nice to know, at least after seeing several incidents where kids act like kings.

i do and teach my children to clean any mess they created, push in the chairs when they leave the table and bring the tray/s with used crockeries to the bin at food courts.
