Saw some marbles while shopping
Always wanted to try them

great shot of the marbles with the lighting effects and the reflection of them are good too. are the marbles not transparent?

u need to clean the marbles first and compositionally it is unbalanced. maybe more headroom above the marbles may better balance the picture. Also maybe more interesting colours.

The marbles are not transparent at most angles, they have some metallic coating which makes it rather difficult to clean also

If you take the reflections in to account the composition is well balanced
Cant clean the marbles with out scraping off the coating
More black headroom wont help IMO

the way you positioned the marbles make them look very flat, like a 2D image, probably due to the different sizes of the marbles. and when you lay them like this, looks like all the same size...

your post processing have some problems. the picture is overly sharpened, look even more 2D.

I think a change of angle, change of positioning will help alot, esp without the 4:3 look... a 16:9 would be better.

Hmmm, I dont think you understand what I mean by "balance" then ...

I had a long look & I agree with you on the 2D appearance in composition & sharpening
The marbles are all the same size
I did try some other angles, will post in the abstracts thread soon, would love your feedback on them too
