Application of passport for PRs' baby

Gonna go apply for a passport for my baby. We are Malaysians holding PR here and would like to find out from those who has done so ... do we go register birth cert at the embassy first or can we do so at the same time as applying passport?

I'm real worried about going there dead early morning to queue

you will have priority with the baby in your arms, the security guards there always let the parents go ahead first.

if i remember correctly, have to get the birth registered first... then they give you a Borang W. With that, then you apply for passport.

That's correct. Register at ICA for birth cert, then go to M'sian High Comm for the Borang W. Just max more photocopies of the necessary documents.

Here are the procedures:
1. Register your baby at the hospital where your baby will be delivered/go to ICA for the Singaporean Birth Certificate. (there will be a note on the B/C stating that your baby is not a citizen of Singapore)
2. Go to Malaysian High Commission (Consular Section) to apply for the Malaysian B/C. Borang W will be issued about 2 weeks after the submission of the form and related documents. (your baby must be present) Don't worry about the queue, the queue are for those who are going to the Immigration Section of the Malaysian High Comm. You can reach there comfortably at about 8.30 am and all will be done by 11 am if you are lucky.
3. Once Borang W is obtained, apply for the Malaysian Passport at the Immigration Section. If all goes well, you will be able to collect the new P/P the next day.
4. Once the Malaysian P/P is obtained, go to ICA with the P/P to apply for the Singapore PR. (Forms 4 & 6 needed)
5. About 7 working days later, you would need to return to ICA to collect the Entry Permit & endorse the Re-Entry permit in the P/P.
6. Finally, JOURNEY PERFORMED!

There is really no hassle for newborns, the High Comm gives full priority to parents with newborns. As a matter of fact, they'll tell you the whole procedure of gettign the citizenship paper (Borang W) and then the passport. A few times, yes. RM200, absolutely not required except for the passport, which I can't remember the price.

Don't worry. Baby in your hand does wonders. Express service and no RM200 at all.
Anyway, consular matters do not have long queues.
