I had a cold/flu 2 weeks ago, went see doctor took antibiotics...it eventually recovered but now left with this persistant dry cough...which after seeing the doctor for the 2nd time, just gave cough medication. :( It doesn't seems to work. Any herbal remedies to recommend? :dunno:

Yes, I do have dry cough too.
There is this itchy feeling in my throat and I have been coughing for almost half a year already...

Try "Yi Ding Ning" about $5-6 from Chinese Medical halls; it works for me. Plus, lots of early nights! No sleeping late.

i find that nowaday cough is very hard to recover, my cough lasted for nearly 1 month before recovered.

Try Woods Peppermint Cure. It works pretty well.

hmm....u can try 'san she dan'.....it's a powder form herbal medicine...which is
suppose to be make fm snake bile or something....it taste perfectly alright....

go buy bird nest and drink.. Eu Yan Sang got sell. Chinese doctor said inside dirty , must clean it. U may think bird nest expensive.. but 3-4 western doctor trips added togather also same.

I was healed by drinking brewed bird nest with rock sugar.. about $230. Just one drink only cure liao.

the virus going around again...

i juz caught it this morning on the mrt... :(

now whole office coughing. It was that bad till i had stomach cramps from coughing.

put a piece of ginger in your mouth. it works.

Had the same problem a couple of years ago, a persistent dry cough (after a bout of flu) that wouldn't go away for more than 1 month despite several courses of antibiotics and western cough medicine.

Finally a colleague bought a couple of things for me from a shop in the basement of Fu Lu Shou complex :

Yin Chiao cough syrup (green and white box)
Old aunty/sister-in-law (or something like that) Pei Pa Koa (not the Nin Jiom stuff you see advertised on TV, you gotta ask the people at the shop what they sell, I think there's not that many brands.)

3 times a day, and within 2-3 days the cough was gone.

No medication, whether western or eastern, ever works to cure dry coughs in my family.

The only "treatment" that works is for the person to hug a heat-pack or hot water bottle to their neck/chest when they sleep. This usually cures the cough in just two days. :)

HOWEVER, do not use this method if you have a fever. :nono:

It's the furs in the furrycakes that cause the lung irritation.

Suggest carrot cakes or banana cakes.

Take care!
Doc.
