Just brought my D50 and went down my house to take this pics..... pls give comment to improve... Thanks in advance..... :)
 

Placing the flower in the middle allows user to easily focus on. It would be better to use rule of 3rd so that the subject can interact with the background to create a story.

Perhaps you might wanna PS to bring out the red. It will create a better impact.

u get the first element of photography right....i.e taking an interesting subject...but art comes hand in hand with creativity, technical and science. Try arranging your subjects using different viewing point, equipment, angles, light etc. Most importantly, picture out what is it that the subject makes u interested to snap it down. U have shown it, the flowers, the colour, the shape etc.

and i have a d50 too!

nice shot btw. maybe some boosting of contrast to bring out the colour of the flowers would be better. but nevertheless a great start!

this picture can be taken in a portrait orientation and i think will look good. ;p
