Hi

Do people shoot in 3:2? I have always been shooting in 4:3 and have to crop the photos I want to print. So am wondering if I should just shoot in 3:2 instead. :dunno:

its up to personal preference i guess.

Personally i'll shoot in 4:3 and crop it when editing.

Most DSLR shoots in 3:2 format (except those 4/3rds systems).

My camera only outputs in 3:2 format.

The diff between 3:2 and 4:3 will be noticed when printed out on paper. If a 4:3 image is printed out on a standard 4R paper, a small portion of the top and bottom part will be cropped off.

My camera can only produce 3:2 format, & most of my prints are 4R which is 3:2 format, so it is very straightforward for me....all my pictures are taken and cropped in 3:2 format. The only time I'll cropped differently is when I want to print 5R or bigger(except S8R) or any panaromic format.

There's a new format for digital cameras in the 4:3 ratio. Go ask some of the shops. I think Kodak Express has these formats.
I don't recommend changing your camera just for a certain format. Some people do square crops or panoramic crops also.

I'll always go for 3:2 anytime. But Olympus now are using 4:3.
Olympus 4:3 format is Four-Third system. It is 4:3 format because many of TV/monitor is 4:3 format. Too bad, now many TV/monitor go for wide screen 16:9 format, which is near to 3:2 format than to 4:3 format :bsmilie: .

I still find 3:2 format more favourable cos the 4:3 format is still less used just like your example. Even Canon's system are all 3:2.

the 4:3 is nearer to 1:1 so easier to make..but traditionally film is 3:2..printing also in 3:2 format..why do we need to care so much for the 4:3 unless its price drops so that everybody can buy a comparable sensor size to FF body cam..ah..ha ha...else go for 3:2 bah...
