Need some advice on entry level digi cam.

Looking forward to get my first camera but not sure which is good to start my photography dream. A lot to learn and all your advice will be greatly appreciated. Prefer canon or nikon budget around $500 others welcome too but not too over budget.

if you had to choose between canon and nikon P&S cameras,
i'd say choose canon

although i use nikon

For your budget, you can look at the Canon Powershot A710IS. Offers a decent amount of manual control for you to experiment with. Another choice would be Fuji F30 for its good high iso image quality.

Recommend Canon A series camera. It has manual mode which allows you to overwrite the settings.

that's merely advertising. some companies dont spend so much on promotion and advertising, but that doesn't mean they are no good (or better than the advertised).

If you want more control over your photography, forget about the IXUS. The Powershot A series would be a better choice.
