Hi there, renting my friend D200 for my bro wedding. What setting u use for the quality setting, should i use normal or vivid for better colour, mainly indoor and outdoor.Any expert can help.:)

Thanks

got time to pp the pics ma?? if have...shoot raw...

i rather you take the money and hire a proper wedding photographer...

The D200 is a semi-pro camera, you need time and hands-on to understand your len and body performance. Not wise to try out the camera for wedding occasion. I support Westwest1 suggestion.

Are you renting the camera to make up for additional gear to help you shoot more efficiently or is this rental due to that fact that you do not have your own DSLR to cover an event like that and just think that maybe using a DSLR over a PnS camera would be better?

Now if you have to asked various questions about how this D200 can be optimised to get you the best possible results in varying conditions? That does not sound like you are familiar with basic stuff to do with DSLRs like Nikon..etc. The wedding is a once in a life time event..it is not a time to be used to expeiment with photography bro. I hope you are in that kind of situation just the hobbist out to shoot some extra candid shots but a more season amatuer or pro is on hand to do the main work. The fact is you are renting how much shooner prior to the shoot to get familair with the equipment is very crucial too. Once you are on the ground doing the shoot, you will already have your hands full trying to compose the shot, watch for interesting moments to shot scenes...things at a typical wedding are taking place very quickly and rare gems are hard to find....thus what time is there left for you to think of how to set your camera for each situation? Also, beside the camera ..what lens are you using and also you have enough memory modules to cover the shoot for the day? You did not mention what level of knowledge you have on photography, what other equipment you have, when is the wedding..etc. If you want any meaningful advice or tips you need to spend abit more time describing the situation you are in or might be in so people will know how to tell you what you can do or NOT to do.

you can do what ever you want... but be prepared that the photos might not be nice... most first time dSLR/SLR user face this problem...

Especially D200. It is not forgiving camera for beginner... :what: .

If you still prefer you take your brother's wedding, borrow your friend flash also. For wedding, go for SB800 and nothing else...

Arto.

I think these people are giving all the help you need. You can't just pin point a setting and hope all will turn out well. If its that easy, professionals wouldn't exist anymore.

to be honest. when i first tried the d200 at the IT show. i have no idea how to use it at all. it is different beacuse there is no dial to switch between modes and stuff.

it may be better off if you can get a more basic camera like the D70. easier to use IMO or read the manual of the D200 and familiarise yourself with the camera before the wedding. during wedding no time to look wait and change settings, esp from indoors to outdoors.
changing of ISO or aperture and stuff.

it will be the best to shoot in raw. at least can worry about WB later esp in different lighting condition during banquet.

slap a flash on the camera and set it to professional mode and snap away happily.

Any advise, you won't be able to comprehend anyway.
