I'm trying to fix skin tones on a range of ppl.

Does the 60 degree rule apply to every one or are there varied approaches for different ethnicity?

NB/ thanks for this tutorial on the 60 degree rule http://forum.clubsnap.org/showthread.php?t=127610

Examples of images I would like to improve:

that is just a guide, not an iron clad rule...adjust to your taste :)

Here's a link to a tutorial you can try.

Be careful not to overdo it. You can try playing with the opacity on the new layer to lessen the effect. Might not be suitable for all photos though. :)

#1 not sure what you think is wrong with it, too redish or yellow? The lady is featuring a lot of make-up... i find it difficult to say what is make up and what is wrong skin tone.

#2 in my opinion this one got nothing to do with skin tone. your WB is off, its too blueish (too cool). It looks better once you got the right WB. add a bit of contrast and take the yellows a bit back and you are there.

#3 that as BW or not? if not, how come its so desaturated? looks like a toned BW

#4 not so bad for a starter, i think its a bit under exposed, but the skin colour of his arm looks quite alright

What camera are you using? shooting in jpeg or RAW?
