Hi, using MS Picture Viewer...let's say I got a 10 MP photo and I was resizing it for email purposes...then stupid me I save the resized format...how to regain back to 10MP ?

Sorry...very new to digital...old school boyz...use flim one. :D

There is no way to regain back lost resolution if you have saved the original file. Not even those commercial interpolating software can help.

you can if you still have it in your sd/cf card !!

Oh brothers....heng its some boliao shots...a relatively inexpensive lesson.

Thanks guys for clearing my doubts !! Much appreciated.

Lesson learned...dun repeat this silly mistake ever again !!!

Already formatted my SD card. This batch of photos is suay man....

First when transferring from SD to com...silly me cut instead of copy...then lost 100 over images...

paid US39 for a program call Handy Recovery....managed to get back 98% of them (heng cos lost images have my daughter posing with Mickey & Minnie Mouse). Then yesterday wanted to show my friend...so reduce from 10MP to email size...stupid me go and save all !! Heng its only 4 boliao images....

even if you had formated your SD card, you might still be able to recover the image. try lexar image rescue.

does that mean it's 'dangerous' to sell cf cards?
what if i had taken raunchy pics with my cf card and formatted it a couple of time?still retrievable ah?:dunno: :bsmilie:

just thinking out loud, will it be possible to do a fdisk on a cf card?
if possible, then all data will be wipeout i think.

fdisk is what?

i always format my cf card before shoot.

OT : Doing a simple format or fdisk won't prevent the files from being recovered. Need to use one of those secure delete/format software which writes over the data on the whole disk/card mulltiple times. (you can get free/open source ones like dban)

OOT : A totally foolproof way of preventing data being recovered is to physically destroy the cards - but that some may say is bordering on paranoid.

since you have Handy Recovery, try it on your formatted SD card again, no harm

you can always fill up the card with rubbish for one or 2 times before selling, or simply do a complete data strip it...

please sell me your flash memory card lah, I want the one that had the raunchy picts on at one time.

To completely delete/wipe out any previous files, you can use the erase function in Image Rescue, and do the process 7 times. That is the protocol for the US Defense Department to securely delete all files in HDD that are to be disposed of.

actually, I think 7 times is a minimum...read somewhere that you have to do it like 20 times to be really secure...

with the price of memory cards so low nowadays, if u dowan a card, just destroy it lor...

Just destroy the CF cards .... forget about the software thing of wipe or rewrite over etc etc....

Cards / Hard disks are cheap anyway.

Many options to destroy too - magnetize, burn and melt, let ur dog chew , flash it down (if it is small enough) etc , sure much more effective than those softwares (that securely delete your data)- all free of charge at your own efforts. Most likely unable to recover as the physical material properties have changed when it is damaged very badly
