M! 3G Broadband, any experiences and complaints?

the unlimited broadband is limited to 2gb xfer.. :bsmilie: it is the only limited-"unlimited plan"
so if you visit picture intensive sites or youtube often, 2gb sure busted in 2 weeks.

Have been using it for past 6 months so far so good both coverages and stability is good as for upload/download speed is ok for me due to most of the time I'm just using it to check and send email .
Personal opinion:
- Wireless@SG. I know it sounds cheesy, esp with the limited coverage area. But IMHO, unless u frequently require constant internet access out of the coverage area provided by Wireless@SG, there's no point in applying for it.
- Pretty low speeds compared to my MOL6000. I'd tested my friend's one (he got the most expensive plan. The $69 plan).
- As someone said, the data transfer limit's only limited to 2GB worth of data which render it useless for powersurfers.
- Its good for travels. I can just be in the middle of nowhere in Hokkaido, Africa or Alaska, pay for IDD charges (it ain't cheap) and get internet connection. But I assume u've got internet access at ur home in the States, so its moot. I suppose there are more wireless coverage in the States?
- 'Mooching'. The new legal buzzword, for people who 'hack' into other ppl's wireless access. There's always the illegal way out of getting temporary internet access simply by turning on ur wireless card at any place and scanning for an unsecured network. But the laws of karma begets. U use ppl's wireless access illegally, they can simply capture all ur email passwords, access to ur shared drives, see all ur credit card numbers, etc, etc. So its up to u to see if this karmic return is actually worth it. ;p
- Its probably meant as a mobile internet solution and not a solution for desktop computers (where u'll have ur regular cheaper & faster plans by Singnet, PacNet and Starhub).
384k may be too slow for some people . I am currently using it on my personal laptop in Raffles Place. So far.. surf clubsnap, stock markets, emails and msn messenger.. quite ok for now ! however cannot be as fast as my home based maxonline which is 4M.
i find it very useful.. can use in PDA to surf also.. at any place.. anytime. Central areas seems to be faster..

ooh is it? that's good news.. the last i heard was a case-by-case assesment of whether to waive excess charges over 2gb..the 2G rule has been removed. U can surf as much as u wan.
Don't know about eventually, but right now, it's unreachable in most residential areas.
Just loan a wireless 3G router from M1 last week and was doing some testing with my equipment..
Not so comfortable with it, speed seemed slower than the 512K broadband connection
experienced some gliches while surfing CS with it
its depend on M1 3G coverage...but most of the time you will have some form of signal...
Speed is good for just checking out info on the web...but not for download demons...but for road warriors...you cannot really do without it...
price gotten down over the pass few years...if you need it...dun wait already...

umm, I mainly use this service in the Yishun area. Somehow I can't log on to the 3G network, so restricted to 238kbps on 2G network. Anyone experiencing the same thing as well?

So far is okay for me. I'm using a 1.8M plan and my impression is that the connection seems to get better each day. The advantage of having 3G is that you can get connected almost all location in Singapore (but I haven't tested it in when MRT go underground). However, I find that M1 should create a buzz word for such service, not the usual one like "business everywhere" but "business on the move" should be more appealing for me, since I can still get connected during my bus trip to/from work between Woodlands and Bedok.

only able to log into 3G initiatlly (first few days of launch)... it became M1 sINGAPORE 2G...Speed is 238kps( Mine is $22 plan, supposed to be 384kps) in actual usage much slower than my home Singnet 512k!
my wife was using it while waiting for me (I was in the meeting) last saturday, guesss what, She gave up and said it is too slow, she rather go home and use the home access (512k)
well, all in all, IMOP, if it is urgent email access... it came in handy... but large file takes really long time to upload, I sent an email with a 2 Mb attachment took me arond 30 mins!
I Regret to signed up so early... now just wait for the 6 month contract expiry and return the modem...UNLESS THE PERFORMANCE IMPROVE! (the M1 guys said the performance will be improve in few months time...)
maybe the higher plan are ok, for $22 plan, don't expect broadband speed! In fact, it is slower than my previous 256K speed!( singnet)
same here... we get stuck for 2 years because it is a 2-years contract. :embrass:
