Noisy lens.

I just got a Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 APO DG MACRO lens. The sound of the motor is rather loud when focusing. Is this normal?

Yes, the Sigma 70-300 is pretty noisy... The Sigma HSM is quieter though.
Tamron makes pretty noisy lens too...

Its pretty normal. Canon's 35 f/2 has an annoying zzzzt sound too
