no dslr yet (got to learn basics first) i just got my fujifilm e900. trying it out.
so... anyhow... what exactly doesn't work for you

Your iso is pretty high on this? Too much noise. The colour looks off. Like somehow it was underexposed and you tried to boost everythig up in PS. did u burn in the vignette? Doesnt work too well as well. Keep trying and experimenting.

it lacks depth

it's just a subject without a background... like you know... a clipart of a flower. try putting it in a "space" so it'll construct more meaning

i'm a n00b too.

(i added noise in PP, than decided to darken corners, silly me )
now i will try more, knowing that i can find help and support here.
