Just wondering, has anyone got his wisdom tooth extract from polyclinics?
Dentists skillful or not?

Scare the dentists at polyclinics not skillful and ends up dying of pain. :bsmilie:
but
find pte dental clinics too expensive to extract.

Any good recommendations
Cheaper and skillful dentists to extract wisdom tooth?

I had a tooth extraction at the polyclinic when I was 6. I swear I would have ended the dentist's miserable life there and then if I still had the strength after the "procedure". No more polyclinics for me.

Had my extraction in april 2005. Went to polyclinic before my gum was swollen and was referred to The Dental clinic at Alexandra hospital. My consultant was a lady.

Had my fears as 1 of my buddy had a fairly young lady dentist and she did not have the strength to extract out the tooth before the effect of the anaesthetic went out.After hearding my friend shouting Ouch , then she gave my buddy a 2nd shot and further dissect his tooth into 8 pieces before pulling them out.

But I was lucky, my consultant was an experience lady and she explained to me what she was going to do before doing it. Like before giving me my anaesthetic, before dissecting my tooth , before pulling them out. She gave me assurance . Felt comfortable throughout the surgery.

oh ya, by the way, my friend went to a private clinic. It really depends on your luck. Or maybe get referral from friends who have had a good dentist.

the polyclinic can only do normal extraction, I was refer to a specialist for operation.

even the male specialist had a hard time removing my horizontal wisdom tooth with 3roots (usually 2 roots)
the whole chair was shaking and need another assistant to hold onto my head. :bsmilie:

almost painless. i oni had slight sensation wen i got jabbed, felt little pain throughout d extraction. b prepare 2 wait several mths 4 tt appointment though.

i was refered 2 by my sis who was refered 2 by my aunt.... :bsmilie:

if you have 2 wisdom tooth to extract, get a good & experience doc. if the first extraction sucks, then you will hesitate going for the second ops.

I got my done at private practice doc, the ops was damn lousy though he is experience. the whole that he cut/extract was too huge, took a long while to recover. Visit my Family doc for stronger dose of anti-botic for 3 times to tackle the infection of my throat. Cost me another hundred to cure the infection.

One Week of MC. One Week of Sleepless night. One week of Porridge.

I believe the Dentist is rushing to finish the jobs so that he can go for his lunch.

Needless to say, the other wisdom tooth is still in my mouth after that incident.

Go to polyclinic. Ask for referral letter to TTSH dental clinic. Then use medisave to pay...

I went to SGH 5 years back to take out all 4 wisdom tooth. Painless as i was under sleep, took 2 week to recover back still quite ok. Cost $600 then but army paid for everything

I'm quite fortunate I think... They just numb that area ... Pull that tooth out in 1 min and viola i'm done. Haha I only paid like 20++ bucks for the procedere. I did it at National Dental Center if i never get the name of the place there wrong

I had three wisdom tooth extracted at the Polyclinic without any issues.

The polyclinic will X-ray your tooth and if it is a complicated case, the polyclinic will refer you to SGH Dental school, I can't remember the name.

I have my tooth extracted at polyclinic... I had a bad experience there...

My suggestion is you get a referral to National Dental Center to get it extracted. They are more experienced in this area.

Though it might not be cheap but I guess it's more worth it than going to polyclinic.

please get a good private doctor such as Mount E to do it. It is not a normal tooth extraction. It is an operation ; cut your gums deep near the main blood vessels. :sweat:

Cannot afford to wait so long...wisdom tooth got abit of decaying but no pain.

My 1st wisdom tooth extraction at Nee Soon Camp still haunts me whenever i think of it.

Think the best way if you are really afraid of pain is to go under the operating table and get all 4 wisdom teeth pulled out. The dentist at the dental centre recommended all to be out so that I need not come back for the same problem in future. Had that done a few years back before I ORD and didn't really pay anything. Then again if you are footing the whole bill on your own it would be good to check out the prices...

Depend if its the upper or lower...

Lower requires surgery and its alot more painful as it linked to alot of nerves and embedded deep inside the bone, could be quite complicated,

Upper wisdom tooth is usually painless.

OT a bit .. why bother thinking of extracting your wisdom teeth/tooth when you call yourself "deceased"? :bsmilie:

anyway, just make sure you remember to take the prescribed painkillers dutifully and the experience should not be too traumatic. good luck finding the right dentist.

tip: ice cream numbs the pain and is a great alternative to porridge. you've got a week to try this out.
