Hi, i just came back from BKK on a 5D4N guided trip and came to realised that 28-70 is the best range for me. For 17mm, what are you gonna take? Even if family photo, i think your 28-70 is enough already. Just my personal opinions. :)

For travel, I personally stick to the following:
- 18-70 range for walkabout
- 12-24 range for landscapes

sure can. :)

My entire Israel, Jordan, Eypt, Australia trip was only 1 lens (17-55 for first 3 countries and 12-24 for Australia)

I dun think prime 17mm lens is very bulky. You should bring both but I believe you will use 28-70mm lens 90%.

will 18-135mm more than ennuff? for landscapes to blah, blah, blah except astro photography?
btw i will b going BKK in about a week to come

u change system lor...

haha. btw, it is not 17-35, it is 17-35 with IS.

anyway, to the TS, why not just bring both? the 17mm prime is not really that heavy. it is worth the slightly extra weight if some nice photos are missed due to lack of wide angle.

Best to bring a zoom as well. Primes are great, but you still need some flexibility...you know..just in case..?

jus curious...why 12-24 for landscape and 18-70 for walk about...

You can always bring the extra lens along and if eventually decide that it's not needed, can always leave it in your lock luggage in the hotel. :)

rent from the ppl advertising in CS lor.. no need buy..

28-70

To myself, a 17mm is too wide for me in the town of BKK.
Anyway up to individual. ;)

12-24mm on digital APS-C sensor = 18-36mm

My landscapes are generally geared in that range. As for walkabouts, my personal range is 18-70.

That's me. Not sure abt u.

You want to be "light", I think your 17mm prime is good enough on your S3Pro. Just zoom with your legs. There is not much "landscape" in BKK, just mostly urban. I brought a 20mm prime along few weeks ago, wished I had a wider prime. The 12-24 would have been lovely but is big and heavy. Go to the Grand Palace in the morning, take some shots there.
