hi, i was thinking about the recent cases of sudden death in SG.. and the victims were actually healthy people.. could stress from work causes such a reaction in the human body ?

kindly share your views..

Watch out for death note 2, coming to a cinema near you.

ya!! so many people just die in their sleep. wonder if death just needs to fulfil his quota every now and then.

pls dont take my life, i still got many shutter count to hoot..

Just a personal story to share. Last June 1st, I had a major heart attack and was rushed to NUH. It was an emergency event and had to go through angioplasty and 2 stents immediately after my admission to A&E. And all these occurs within 2.5 hrs of my attack.

After the procedures, 3 medical counsellors interview me and mentioned that:

1. My cholesterol is just slightly high but nothing to be alarm about
2. No high blood pressure (actually have history of low blood)
3. No diabetes

After much investigations, they all tribute that it is a clear cut of "stress" induced and that I should learn to cope with it. My medical consultant actually me that stress me kill me, so solve any problems I may think of and do it immediately.

I also know another photographer in CS (no name mention) who told me that his sister of young age also died suddenly in her sleep and she was healthy. But she in fact lead a very stressful job.

Believe me guys... after the incident, I can actually identify that my heart does feel stressed whenever I have problems. After some time, one of the best way for me to cope any stress related problem is to tell myself... "f... care", life is more important...

Sorry guys, not to be dramatic:bsmilie: but to share with you what stress can do to you... and this is serious, its no longer an age disease!!! I was only 39 when I had my attack.

My view - get yourself insured while your healthy, even if you pass on unexpectedly, your family doesn't suffer.

Hello Siaful

Thanks for sharing your story. It's an eye opener. I read about sudden death syndrome at work in Tokyo Japan sometime back and it seems that Singapore's stress-death situation is becoming more and more similar to Japan's.

Regards
Wes

I suspect the cases of recent sudden death is due to irregular heart beat, notice that most were at prime age and exercise regularly.

What's that thing called? "Heart Murmurs" I believe. That's why these days for IPPT and at most gyms, there's the Defibrillator always on standby.

Anyway, if anyone noticed, there had always been such cases around, but they did not receive media attention after in the early 90s where Thai workers started to convulse & die suddenly in their sleep (they believed it was the work of some evil female spirit and some resorted to painting their nails and wearing dresses to bed to ward it of).

Media attention to this syndrome died down after a year or so only to get heated up again in the recent years.

Notice they have medic on standby also... I think they getting serious about it... But in the past we don't seem to see this so often... Why recently start to have so many of such cases?

I know for sure ..... some members who frequent here will have higher a chance of Sudden Death if they cant accept critiques from some hardcores CS critics :bsmilie:

I am hopeing that I am de-stressing when i am here ....

if healthy people also can get sudden death....what's the point of keeping healthy ? since keeping fit and healthy diet doesn't guarantee no sudden death...

Er... Healthy people may not get long term (expensive) disease like kidney failure etc so easily? Sudden death is not so bad if you like one poster said, prepare insurance for your family...

It is the long term sickness that suck your savings and ability to support yourself that is scary...
