First of all, u must be able to stand harsh critics and comments about the photos u took and also your character, personailty, reputation and appearance as a whole. If u cannot.. then u will never make it far.

Photography as a hobby is 180 degrees different from a professional career. As a career, u need to pray that your Art Director or Editor would like your photos, because as professional artists, their perception of looking at things such as photographs may be very different from u. Most importantly.. your photos will decide the level of impact to their business sales and profits.. so the pressure is on you !

Equipment such as body, lenses and studio equipment will be avaliable because they are purchased under company expenses. However, if u are freelance.. u need to fork our money to get and maintain your gear.

Aiyah, no matter how good your photo skills are, you'll still get nowhere fast if you don't have a good business acumen.

A half-baked photographer has a higher chance of success if he's got a good business head. And not the other way around. Judging from CS alone, there are MANY (technically and/or artistically) skillful photographers, but despite this, I don't think the professional market would be saturated anytime soon.

If your PR is top-notch, you shouldn't even have to be press anything, the assistant can do that. All you need to do is to collect the fee. And if there's complaints, its not your fault and you can promise to replace the assistant. Imagine what would happen if you had pressed the shutter yourself! You may have to be replaced! :bsmilie:
