Anyone has any experience with the Lumix L1K?

I've always wanted a "Leica rangefinder" and this is the closest I can get without selling a kidney. Just wondering if anyone has it or has used it in some form.

Thanks!

It may look somewhat like a rangefinder but it is no rangefinder. For the same price, you could always buy a second-hand real Leica M and a lens or 2 if you are really keen on a Leica rangefinder. ;)

Got mine and have no regrets. Really like the "film-like" quality of the B/W in Dynamic mode. I shoot saving a copy in RAW as well but the B/W are good enough without post processing. I did a lot of street shots with it recently. Check it out here http://www.vitalimages.com.sg/nyc (There are some shots here that are from the FX-01. Am sure you can tell the difference). The Live view was better than I thought and it enabled me to be discreet on the street. And now I just got an adapter so I'm using my Contax 50 f1.4 which becomes a great portrait lens at 100mm f1.4! Go for it!

i really doubt you can get an M and TWO lenses for the price of an L1. :) And most certainly not the M8 which is the only digital M around. Good condition M lenses are not cheap! But we all want them don't we? :)

I was of course referring to used manual M cameras. The M8 is too new to be available second-hand. There were a few reasonably and attractively priced used M cameras and lenses on offer in the Buy & Sell Section recently which could allow 'body+2 lenses' combination to be gotten for $3K+. I would be tempted if not for my preference for a digital RF.

Ah! Found the M2 with two lenses :)

I wasn't talking about second hand M8s (although there might be a few around already if Leica can't solve the early problems) but saying that's the only digital M around. The closest would be the RD1s or getting a leica adapter for the L1.

I just tried my Contax 50 f1.4 on my L1 and it works great! :)

May i know how much is L1 cost now? :D

Yup, already put my name on the waiting list for the R-D1s... hope stocks come in before those of the modified M8 do. :)

Have you actually tried the RD1s? I hope you are not overpaying for it getting it here. Tried the RD1 in HK and didn't get it but it is cheaper there I believe. Will go check it out again when I go again in two weeks. :)

M8. Don't we all want one? :)

Didn't really try the R-D1s. By the time I really wanted to get a digital RF, it's out of stock already. But I do like its retro-chic look. Is it really cheaper (and what's more important... AVAILABLE) in HK? umm...

Not sure what the price in HK is but Shashinki in Malaysia is offering in for SGD3365 including free delivery. Think you'll still have to pay GSt when it gets here though. How much are you paying if I may ask? :)

Cathay Photo is selling it at $3,888... no discount. But no stock and no firm date from Epson Singapore as to when stock would come in.
It is definitely cheaper from Shashinki even with GST but their stock is direct from Japan and from what I read, everything is in Japanese, including labelling on the camera. :(

Still above SGD3k I think. But shouldn't pay more than SGD3300 w/gst + Credit card. Think stocks are limited though. Don't wait. Just buy! :)

Thanks, bro... Thinking of selling my entire Nikon system to buy it.... maybe...
