Guidences needed for fz07

Hi had just recently bought a new panasonic FZ07
so far so good,
but like to check out something
ISO setting are more for photo taking in diff light conditions right to say?
For shutter speed setting, are more for like taking moving targets hor? Example like water sports?

But I dun realli know how to utilise the shutter setting?

Somemore is I dun know why, when i tuned my shutter spd to like 1/30 and above,
my focus and pics are all became darker and darker and totally black liao.
Is there any thing else should I need to tune?

The higher the ISO, the more sensitive it is to light, also more noise it'll generate. Example, if you are taking a shoot in the night, at ISO80 your shutter speed is 1/4 but at ISO400 your shutter speed could be 1/30. ISO80 gives u better quality but ISO400 gives u lots of noise(unwanted pixels)

Shutter speed is how fast the shutter opens & closes. The faster the shutter, the lesser chance your shots will get blur. Example, if you take a shot at 1/8s, your shots are likely to be blur due to your hand shaking or target is moving. But at 1/125 or more, you get sharp image provided you focus well. Problem is that since your shutter is moving so fast, lesser light get caught into it. So you'll need enough light for faster shutter.

But I dun realli know how to utilise the shutter setting?

Shutter setting normally we use it for a delay shot, like those really nice night shots where you leave your shutter open for a 5 or more secs. Or you are shooting something really fast.

well.. got some brief understanding..
but if a fast shutter means lesser light got in..

basically high shutter spd will most likely to be taken in broad daylight..
but else in tt case, FZ07 onli had built in flash, and tts onli apply to close range shot ba

The best way is read the manual and play with it. That's how most of us get started

4. Read more books.
5. Surf internet more on tips to shoot.
6. Check out forums related to Pansonic Gear, in other websites like dpreview, you'll be surprised and what you can do with the cam.

Agree, thats how i started off using my FZ7. Along the way, u may like to ask those DSLR users.

Mayb u like to play ard with the built-in modes first. Take note of the exposure and shutter. After dat try play ard with the M mode.

Want to check Fz7 for my friend. Using Manual mode , f8, 1/160sec and ISO 100, when he tries to focus the object, the LCD preview is very dim and dark. Is there any settings to make it preview brighter ?

I don think so... when one 1/2 press the shutter to do focusing, the camera will try to "preview" the end result as well. If the LCD is dim, it will simply mean that the output photo will be pretty dim as well (sometimes not accurate tho)

To prevent that, you must use a correct exposure setting.

I use this as a guide but normally set to Auto Bracket when i am not sure how the pic will turn out

As a rough guide, for a normal cloudy day, I can only managed to use 1/100 for f2.8.

U can try using f2.8 instead of f8. I only use f8 when taking scenery and when taking pics of clouds :sweat:

Maybe we should org a FZ7 outing where we can share n learn from one another

Thanks ExplorerZ. His camera is set with flash on and it should preview the LCD as per normal for focusing purpose. I think Canon DC has this feature like my A95 setup.

No , he wants to overwrite the settings and preview as per normal. If the LCD preview is dark, he cannot focus the object. I will ask him to try Power LCD.

Or did your fren accidentally adjust the contrast n brightness of the LCD to dim/low? mayb can try compare the LCD preview pics and the viewfinder preview pics?
