Hi
I was trying out my K100D for the first time at an exhibition last Saturday, namely the Singapore MotorShow 2006. Was using my Sigma 18-200mm and internal flash (everybody was using external flash except me! ;)) and mixture of Auto Pict, P-mode and Av mode.
None of the shots I took possess great sharpness. Is it the camera, the lens or simply the bozo using the camera has poor skills?.
Would appreciate your advice on this...

Was looking at those ISO800 with Pattern metering mode and 1/15sec-1/60sec. Good camera leh. I am assuming you didn't use any sharpening correct?

I wish I had a flash w/ me, and use a 14mm lens to shoot models is probably too wide :

All photos taken in RAW, convertered by SilkyPix v3.

Hope you like some of these.

Cheers,

Nice pix Fengwei! Just by using internal flash? It's well lighted in my opinion.

Fengwei, your pictures are really really sharp!

Is it bcuz u r using a super-duper lens? :embrass:

Looking at the above pic, you can see the carseat back-rest appeared to be sharp.
But the models aren't. Probably they were not keeping still or it could be your focusing.
Try to set focus point to single point (is there such a setting?)

BTW, what lens are you using?

he was using a tamron 18-200, i believe.

There is such a setting, however, i would recommend selecting the "middle" option on the k100d; this allows you to move the focus point around with the keypad and so it's a little more versatile. (of course it's probably better to focus lock then recompose).

Thanks guys...I did not even notice that!
I'm using a Sigma 18-200..heh heh..dnaxe is so obsessed with the new Tamron 18-250 that he mixed mine up with his dream zoom lens :bsmilie:
I tried to use focus lock and set my camera to point focus and the central "cross hair" is on the model. And yes, she did move a little but as you can see, she was actually posing for another "C" photographer...sigh....

Feng Wei
As always, your shots are razor sharp! The car looks great...I do not know how you did it.
Here are some of mine for comparison. The composition is hopeless (maybe I am not artistic!) and the shots generally look dark.

those look a little underexposed.

those look a little underexposed.

yup..
All taken without flash..Had i used the flash, the background would be dark.
Feng Wei's shots are brighter probably because he has a fast lens?
