Hi comrades!

My 1st time here with my 1st post and my 1st DSLR purchase!:sweatsm:
My discussions in VR-ZONE forum have led me to discuss it here now!
Basically, after much 'discussing', i have settled for the setup below:

Body: Nikon D80
Lens: Nikon AF-S DX 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G & Sigma APO 70-200mm F2.8 EX DG HSM
Flash: Speedlight SB-600 vs Speedlight SB-800 with Gary Fong Lightsphere-II
Storage: SanDisk Ultra II SD 2GB or 4GB vs TRANSCEND 150x Secure Digital 2GB Card
Tripod: Manfrotto which model?
Dry Box: $$$...
Filters: $$$...

Any comment?

Some of the basic criteria for the lens i'm getting...
1) Must work natively & flawlessly with the Nikon D80
2) Must hunt the target super-fast and silently
3) Must have great optical quality for that crisp sharp pix
3) Of course, must be affordable (within the region of S$1000 would be great!)

Looks like you got most of the stuff covered. Thats a pretty decent setup. That should get you going. As for the tripod, the usual suspect from Manfrotto would be the 190 or 055 tripod.

Just remember to take lots of pictures:)

What to do, i not Bill Gates' son..

Fast? Faster than my current Canon G5 lor.
In fact, if can predict my brain pattern lagi better..just kidding!

@kelccm
Yar, 1k per lens. Cheaper better!

Welcome from Vr-Zone :D

You need more CF cards...

on a 10Mp camera, you would be able to store about 300 - 400 shots on Large Fine setting in Jpeg. But if you are using RAW, it should drop to about 100 or so.

As for tripod, do check the working height and your height. ;)

Any of these models will work just fine. The difference is just the colours and the extra functions like horizontal mounting. If you are less than 1.7m tall, get the 190. If you are taller than that, get the 055.

OK, i will get the 190 then bcuz i'm less than 1.7m:sticktong

Btw, a noob question: Does the D80 allow me to preview the image on its LCD 1st b4 i actually shoot the pix? I'm so used to composing pix on the LCD screen of my G5. I hate looking thru the viewfinder, so puny, make my eyes one big one small after a while... zzz;(

if you are asking that question then you need to reconsider getting a dslr. if not try olympus, they will have that function for you

Just a comment, consider getting SB-800 (Then in future, you can forget about upgrading your Flash unless a new high end drops in) , can drop the tripod for the time being.

You mean the D80 doesn't have image PREVIEW at all ar!!?:bheart:
