It's tough living in Singapore ...

I verified on that, a friend caught using the phone while driving. $200 fine + 12 demerit pts + handphone confiscated. But the policeman was nice enough to return him the SIM,else all his business contacts will be gone! :bsmilie:

The last line "Its tough living in Singapore", exclusively for heroes who think they'd wanna pull a "The Fast And The Furious" on the roads.

If one were to stick to the 'idiotic laws' which 'force' drivers to drive so 'slowly', den dun drive. Nuff said.

BTW, I drive too and never got a ticket before.

"Inconsiderate Driving = $170 + 9 Demerit Points + Court."

Does this apply to those bloody fools who road hog?

ya, every morning got bus hog bus lane, can report? cos i can't do a left turn, while they are doing a 25/km march... damnit... its bus lane, but damnit, buses are suppose to move FASTER...

what was the charge?

'phone driving'?

In addition to that:

Fail to form up properly when making a right turn at junction: 4 pts + $130

Juz got it.

That is why it is better to take a taxi.

Assuming you spend $40/day on taxis, 365 days per year. That is a total of $14600 per year.

Benefits:
1) This comes with a driver to send you around while you rest, sleep, read, make all the phone calls you want and take pictures too!
2) You dont have to find parking and then park and pay parking fees or try to save and kena fine.
3) You dont have to worry about washing and cleaning your car. Unless you happen to vomit in the taxi or you cant control your bladder/bowel movements, that is a different story all together!
4) Car maintenance. What is that?
5) Paying of road tax, car insurance and other bills.
6) Create jobs for your fellow Singaporeans.

Cons:
1) Have to spend time waiting for taxi or do advance planning to make bookings
2) Cant drive with your GF, wife or "love one" to a nice quite place
3) Got to put up with the random rude/crazy taxi driver

Overall its the cost savings that makes me prefer to take a taxi for now. If LTA ever implements the GPS ERP2.0 than it would be a different story. I also feel that waiting time is comparable to the time spent parking and maintenance.

BTW, $40 is just a generous estimate. I take a lot of taxis but rarely exceed $25 day. And try to take public transport when there is no rush for time.

Please feel free to add to the pros and cons if I missed out any.

What's the difference between "vehicle compounded" and "vehicle confiscate"?

Nothing to prevent you and the taxi driver to drive to a nice quiet place. :bsmilie:

hahaha Wah! You into some brokeback stuff eh? :bsmilie:
