Hi folks,

102513851-M.jpg

Just one of those countless photos that didn't make it to the shortlist. Do let me know your C&Cs.

Thanks!

can't feel what you are trying to depict. since it's one of those that didn't make it to the shortlist for you, i think you're your best judge.

LOL, it sure did make it into my shortlist, just not into the shortlist of the Photomarathon judges ;)

The theme given to the participants was "Darkness". I wanted to portray an individual down in his darkest depths of despair. Consumed, and overwhelmed in darkness, but not totally.

The bare hands covering the face could be interpreted as shame, weakness in facing reality, or just being frustrated in oneself. At the same time, these pair of hands can be made use to pull one self from being consumed. Which is why I used an exposure where the luminosity of the hands form a stark contrast.

Thanks for your comment.

i see, for a while i thought you're posting something you rejected here.

i would definitely prefer the shadow areas to contain some details, for now i can't really make out the shape of the man's head, which imo is important to give your subject an identifiable form. otherwise i must say your story is somewhat overly dramatic for a rather quiet moment.

i think your picture was rejected by the judges because of the Canon logo on the shirt btw.

next time wear a shirt with Nikon logo... :bsmilie:

LOL! The Canon logo was an oversight. Thought of photoshopping that out before posting, but heck, I'd rather things be as they are.

As to the melodramatic part, trust me, I wanted to push it, but... it was at Fort Canning, and there were lots of kids around (some Barbie film night)... didn't want to give them traumatic nightmares, LOL!

Noted about the shadow details. Thanks.
