> SINGAPORE FASHION WEEK HIGHLIGHTS

Singapore Fashion Week 2006 (SFW06) will kick-off on 31 October 2006. Into its 19th annual installment, this event will showcase a series of comprehensive fashion-related trade exhibitions and trade shows featuring the latest designers' collections, brands/ labels and swimwear apparel from the region. SFW06 is the premier trade show for the regional apparel industry. After the opening gala dinner, Inspirasians, SFW06 and will be held in three main locations. All the trade shows, including The Designers Show (TDS), Apparel Asia and Intimate Asia will be held at Singapore Expo. To capture a wider audience, the competition shows will be held at Raffles City Shopping Centre. To conclude the event and to lighten the mood, the party shows will be held at Zouk club.

Singapore Designer Young Fashion Contest
Date: 1 November 2006
Venue: Raffles City Shopping Centre

Presented by Raffles City Shopping Centre, SFDC is a nationwide search for the next big thing in Singapore's fashion industry. This contest has become a crucial platform to launch the careers of up-and-coming fashion designers. Many of the finalists and winners of SFDC have either successfully established their own retail labels or, are playing key roles in fashion-related businesses.
Madeleine Wong, past winner of SFDC and AYFDC in 2003 and co-designer of a new label 'Posse' received very positive feedback after their TDS 2005 showing. Another winner, K. Mi Huang, had shown great progress since her championship in the SFDC 2001. She has established her own boutiques in Singapore and also growing her presence in the international arena. As in the past, the first and second prize winners of SFDC will represent Singapore in the Asian Young Fashion Designers Contest (AYFDC).

Asian Young Fashion Designer Contest

Venue: Raffles City Shopping Centre

In its 18th year, AYFDC, presented by Raffles City Shopping Centre, is a significant regional talent search that showcases up-and-coming talents from all over Asia. Since its inception 17 years ago, AYFDC is still an important regional talent search that has paved the way for many young designers to pursue a career in the fashion industry. Over 12 countries will participate in this year's contest.

The Graduate Showcase
Date: 5 November 2006
Venue: Raffles City Shopping Centre

Working closely with the four major design schools in Singapore - Raffles Design Institute, Temasek Polytechnic School of Design, LaSalle SIA College of the Arts and the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, FRESH! is a fashion show that showcases the best fashion graduates of the year. Collections by fashion students from individual schools will be highlighted. As an added incentive this year, a judging will be held amongst the top 8 graduates from the 4 design schools, where the most talented will be awarded The Top Graduate of the Year Award.

same old questions - is photography allowed??? need tickets?? ;p
photography of fashion shows are usually allowed in Raffles City, you probably need tickets if you want to take a seat in front of the stage, shooting no need ticket usually.

I think all public shows at Raffles City Shopping Centre start at 7pm, if I'm not mistaken.

just came back from Raffles City SC.. its held indoors, with FashionTV as 1 of the many media organisations in there..

its quite crowded, considering its a weekday. and there are only a few possible angles. not say impossible, but i must say some of the models do walk a tad too fast..

usage of ladder is prefered..
