Slim Filters... Nikon Vs B+W

Trying to get a slim filter to stack on my UV Haze.
I'm contemplating... which to get:

1. Nikon 77mm CPL II
2. B+W MRC CPL 77mm slim.

Advise pls, anyone.

The Nikon CPII is ultra-slim. As to staking onto your UV, your lens is also a factor.

Yes it is... Chances are that it will vignet at certain focal range.
I'll have to correct myself... how's the POP effects of both filters?

B&W is know to have excellent lens quality. Todate, I cannot tell the difference between a picture taken with B&W filter and a Nikon filter. So I normally suggest going for the cheaper filter.

Did you do a side by side test, mount on tripod, shoot the same scene with the same settings and exposure, etc?

Anyway, which filter to go for, if optical quality is the same, depends on other factors as well, such as the build quality, how easy to clean, resistance to scratches, resale value, etc.

Oh.. I forgot... Someone introduced me the Kenko Pro-1 Digital which is supposed to be slim too..

I know that Kenko and Tokina are affilated... (Although I feel Tokina makes good lens but crappy filters). How is Kenko's quality with respect to Nikon's or B+W's? And how is it compared to Tokina's... and Hoya (which Tokina is making their CPL)...

nikon fans will tell you to get nikon filters. the rest may tell you B+W. both is good. some prefers B+W for its easy cleanability.

note the thing about slim. while it does make vignetting less a problem, it sacrifices the thread and means that you cannot stack anything on top of it, i.e. no other filters, no cokin holder ...

some says kenko is good but it does not have a searchable english website. too bad i already got UV and CPL for all my 3 thread size, so not buying kenko.

Not sure if there is different versions of Nikon Slim CPL II, but I had used a 77mm one before and it is threaded at the front so can stack and can put on cap as well.

Maybe yours is a different version?

Yes, the Kenko Pro 1D versions are, surprisingly or not, just as slim (if not just as good) as the Nikon series. I have tried their ND as well as UV filters. If you talk about value, I think you need to look no further.

Erm... mine is the B+W Slim 77mm CPL and it comes supplied with a leather 'cap'.

I thought it's some fancy-ass packaging until I tried to fit the lens cap on...

I have.

However, I did not evaluate the resistance to scratches, resale value and the ease of cleaning the filter which you are right to point out are factors worth consideration when deciding which filter to buy.
