Lost: 1G SD Card @North Beach, Western Australia :~(

This is a LONG shot, but giving it a try anyway.

In case anyone knows someone who found a 1G SD card @North Beach (near Perth, I think) in Western Australia, please let me know. It contains memories captured during a vacation my wife had with our daughter. She dropped the card when she was swapping SD cards . It was lost around 29th/30th Sept 2006.

I am not holding my breath for this one but still keeping a tiny glimmer of hope....*fingers crossed*

Sad case.

A suggestion to all for all your memory card or flash drive, on the 1st shot do take a photo of your contact particular in case of lost.
You will have higher chance of getting it back.

Thanx for the well wishes guys. It is a case where I would rather even lose my equipment... at least, money can buy equipment back (at the same time, 'conveniently' upgrade to D200 ). But the captured memories that is lost is one of the saddest things for me to lose .

DCA: I like your suggestion about leaving a contact email, in case some guy comes across some other forum somewhere about a 1G card that was found...

Try see if you can find any AU forum, then post there for help. It might work. But don't get your hopes too high.

U should try to post a msg in one of the photography forum in WA (if any) or other locally based popular forums. At least it will help spread the message there.

One of my friends left her photo bag (containing a telephoto lens, charger, spare batteries and memory cards) by a roadside in Melbourne, returned and found it was gone.

The person who picked the bag up traced her back months later to a contact in Brisbane and sent the bag back completely intact. Not too sure how it was traced, but it might have been an address or a ticket tucked into the bag or something......

r32: I think this happy ending would rarely happen in SG -- very likely the stuff would be gone. It gives an indication of the level of maturity/courtesy of the society in general. Had a personal experience where the wife (yes, the wife again) left a bag containing my SB-800 & IXUS 40 in a town (I think it was Albany) more than 150km back for more than 6 hours. When she realized it & called them, we drove back all the way & everything was intact.

Yes.... my wife. Now, I carry my own equipment, not going to 'tumpang' in a bag she is carrying :sweat:

I can understand how you feel, my hdd crash in Aug and I lost about a few weeks of photo memories (which includes my son's one year old birthday, my daughter's 4th birthday and our last day of holiday in New York).

We'll be making a trip to Perth in about 2 weeks time. Not sure will we be heading to North Beach (btw where's North Beach) but you may like to leave more infor so that if we are there we can check out.

Years back, we lost a camera at an information booth in Melbourne and a DREAM TEAM cap in NZ. Even though we went back within minutes, we never got it back. It really depends on the individual who chance upon the item.
