Torchlight help

anyone here has any info regarding waranty status of maglite torchlights? i was doin some experimental product shots and was juz trying to play around with another lightsource. reached for my maglite, twisted it to switch it on as pernormal but felt something was grinding away at the screw area (for the lack of a better word)

tried but it juz wont light up, to my surprise, the bulb was gone. looks like someone broke it


now my qs is, was there a warranty card or something placed at the plastic when we first bought it? if so dat means im screwed........ :cry:

P/s before someone flames me and asks why i dun i juz email maglite, well if doing that as well.
juz hopin someone here who has gone thru such procedures can enlighten me

There is a spare bulb in the tailcap, wic is normally protected by the spring which holds the batts together. try unscrewing the spring like a screw and you will be able to access the spare bulb.

BTW, from my previous experience with torches, Maglite bulbs are very fragile and don't have a very long life span. if you intend to be using the torch for long periods of time, i suggest you look for other brands of torches.

Oh... and never leave Energiser batts inside the Maglites for a long period of time ... the batts will leak very badly and you may not even be able to open your tailcap.

got the small one like urs..

mine jus drop put by tapping the 'backside' of the back cap.. its protected by a red plastic..

take out, 'shove' the bulb in on the top and 'viola', it work again..

hmm, mine has been using for 10 months, using almost daily... but its is now a lot dimmer when i first used, i suppose its going to 'die' soon..

thanks for the resposne guys, i think ihave reconnected everything together again. but its still not woring. perhaps there was another piece dat i may have overlooked?

Oh, I mean long life span as in if u need to turn it on for a long period of time,eg, doing theatre work, rigging, etc, the bulb just doesnt last in the long run. u will need to replace yr bulb very soon. it becomes dimmer and dimmer and then when u need it the most, the bulb blows. the bulbs r quite ex too and a little rare to find sometimes ...

if u use it for short periods of time and occasionally, i guess they r fine ...

Hi, perhaps you might want to consider upgrading your maglite bulb to LED. The beam is white and so much brighter. Runtime extends from 41min (50%) to 5hr 25min (50%) for a mini Mag AA. But the LED is not cheap, abt US$20 (ex. shipping)

after fiddling with my maglite for a while, got it to shine again. but i think i may have assembled it wrong or it might juz be broke........ cos on default, i should twist counter clockwise to switch it on. now the light is always on when the top (head assembly) is tightened.


perhaps if my maglite is properly fixed, i might try out the other bulb, how did u get it?

Just google for "Terralux LED". There are a lot of places selling them online. Maybe you would like to check with the local guys to see if anyone is carrying them.

There are a few places online you can get but it's quite ex. And for the price to pay for the just one Terralux LED, it's enough for you to get another Luxeon LED flashlight.

Runs on common 2xAAs, excellent regulation for 2hr+ of light, dual output level selection. Suitable for everyday user like you and me

It's a 3W Luxeon so, its one of the brightest LED you can get for 2xAA. May be a little costly for $70 but LEDs lasts for years. Oh, its waterproof too.

Used it for a few months on a daily basis Now trying to modify it further..

Did not buy from the site; got it from my someone I know. 2 of my friends did buy from the site without issues, took a little while though.

Army folks should get one of them LEDs, preferably with intensity control (tactical light discipline yada yada :bsmilie: ) Spend a bit more and you'll find shock resistant and divable bodies. Good for river-crossing For the rest of us, splash proof and corrosion resistance (contacts especially) is good enough.

im pretty new to this, and pretty much only know of maglite.
