Instead of uploading the whole bloody series. Do us a favour and upload the best 3 from the series for C&C. It's a turn off to see 37 shots from one series and I cant be bothered to go through them all.

There's a few shots with nice composition. I believe you'll receive even more good comments if you don't post so many shots. See the guy in the background? Why is he in the picture?

Thanks LeeJay.

Nice pics and beautiful model.

Cheers

Beautiful model, I can agree, but nice pictures? What are you, leejay's personal fan club? You are not doing him a favor. The 39 posted in this thread is worse that nt eh 34 he posted on the other thread.

Hmm...DP...LeeJay likes to post alot...
Let him be...
Some ppl likes to view a lot of pics, some juz wants the cream of the crop.
Posting fer aesthetic value is juz not him, He likes to post pics he's happi abt.

Somedae, LeeJay might juz be able to post 39 breath-taking pics in 1 series.

good for him if he can get a series of 39 good pictures together. Howver, my comment was not really directed at leejay, but at Reliance.

Sorry for the late reply. Thanks for all your precious comments and advices.

You give yourself too much credit. If you do not want me to respond, then don't comment on my statement about how the absurdity of your comment.

DP, I note from your various posts you are very critical of other's work.

This is my first and last time responding to your question because I find it a waste of time and also I do not like to deal people like you. Hence next time please do not direct your queries at me as I will not answer them.

For the record I do find the pictures to be nice and have enjoyed viewing them.

thanks.

No offence. If u think all the pics are nice, then I can say that your std is really really low or u are misguided by the boobs and the beautiful face. You have also missed the pt that DP is trying to make to u. U have also stopped learning cause u are unable to accept criticisms.

Lee Jay,
This series in my opinion is very much nicer than the first time when u posted. Lighting is also more controlled this time rd. I noticed your style of posting is u want others to comment on your photos and yet at the same time want to share the joy (hence the laughing faces). U may want to split your series into 2 cat. 1 for sharing and 1 for critique so that u can fully benefit from it.

If u ignore all the kind advice given by the forumers here abt posting so many pics, I am sure that pp would stop critique to help u because photographer refuse to change. Just my 2 cents

Creaxion, I am a little confused by your comments here.

These pictures are posted by leejay, not Reliance.

Your advice to the poster (leejay) was what I had earlier suggested.

The following comments are for your considerations.

Reliance said the pictures were nice (to him that is) - and that he enjoyed looking at the pictures. Note that he did not say that the images were good. To say "the pictures are nice" is an emotionall response, what one likes. To say an image is "good" is to pass a "value judgement".

Reliance was merely giving an emotional response to leejay's pictures. I think we should be careful about questioning another person's likes and dislikes. In my opinion, a person's likes and dislikes should not be something for others to pass a judgement on.

Sorry Doc,
I have added the name. Sorry for the error and confusion caused.
Since u talked abt emotional response, my emotional response when I first read Reliance's post was that, "Oh No! Not again! Another person misguiding LeeJay. If u call that nice, then what is gd. What will happen if Lee Jay take his words for it." My personal feeling is that leejay seems to have a lot of potential for there is a drastic improvement from his first post. (I know of so many photographers who are plain stubborn and they were stuck at their stage.) It would be a sad thing if he is misguided. I believe pp can tell and that is why so many pp advising him. That is my personal response. Maybe I did not read in between the lines like u do but hey, I believe i am not the only one.

I agree that DP may be harsh but at the same time, he is speaking sense.

Hi Deadpoet et all, thanks for your comments.

I realise I should not have used the word "nice" too liberally as it's misleading.

I found most of LeeJay's pictures to be very good although some improvements are in order.

For example some of the pictures are over-exposed, and he could have remove these from his post.

But overall I have enjoyed LeeJay's portfolio.

Trust this clarifies.

 Let's all learn together.

i think you have what it takes to be a good photographer. compared to your previous batch of photos, you seem to be getting it this time, but not yet. don't worry about the pressure these people give you. learn slowly and make sure: don't let the camera control you. you are the one controlling the camera.

apart from that, i notice that you also have an ambitious perspective. this i could see from your kelong ('a fisherman's life'), ubin, and chinatown pics. your angle of perpective is special, which is good for photography.

in fact, you have good attitude and sincere pics. any proshooter will notice that you are aiming for freedom + joy. i believe you wanted to express the personalities of the models when you shoot. this is a commendable effort. it is important to 'fall in love with your subject' in order to capture their personalities and characters. you have it naturally, which is good.

leejay, perhaps you would like to come over to my studio in tanjong pagar? just drop by on sat or sun or both in the morning and we can have a breakfast chat. i would love to go over the photos you have posted and tell you how you can improve them. bring along your camera. i will teach you all the configurations/settings. i usually have one or two models in the weekends. you could practice your shots for free.

my mobile number and addr have been sent to your inbox.

no problem ...

Brother Leejay,

I tried taking up photography 4 yrs ago, but gave up eventually. My biggest critic was my present business partner. Daugher of a famous photographer, she slamed and criticise my pics in way like Deadpoet...very direct and very harsh. She will go like:

"You are wasting the makeup artist time and effort..."
"Hair messy...why make her look so fat...she so pretty but you make her look so bad..."

I burn out of my enthusiasm after 2 years and gave up cos I felt I needed encouragement and constant pad on my back. As I look back, I really learned to appreciate my partner's slamming and criticism. Realise that if you really want to be a PHOTOGRAPHER, you have to bite the bullet, improve and advance. And I often thank for her directness.

Of course she is much nicer now...he he...pointing out areas for me to reflect and watch out for when I do a few snaps occassionally for her to critique.

Bro, if you wish to move to the next level, engage a mentor to help you improve technically/visually & brush up on your photo-shop skills to remedy for future works (comes in handy always).

Likewise, if you are comfortable if your present works, continue to shoot more. Observe, copy but improvise...always a chance to improve.

Happy Mon to you!
:D :D
