You might want to try not using the direct flash and tying some full body shots

that's inside my room... didn't wan to on light... to disturb her.. it was dark..
i think for animal , contrast high still ok ..

Hmmm... No particular reason actually, maybe its the after effect of trying to recover the highlights and adding on other effects.
