Super slow render times for cs5.5 after effects

Hi
I'd like to find out if I'm the only fella facing super slow rendering times with AE cs5.5. Tried rendering from AE & AME but same slow render times. Rendering output into HDTV 1080 widescreen for a 7 min photo montage with simple effects took me >48 blooming hours!!! It's ridiculous. My pc specs are:
Amd 1100 , 6 cores
16gb ram
Gtx 560 ti
Latest nvidia drivers updated
I'm not even using any videos for this render, all photos (40 photos each 1mb+), shouldn't take >2 days to render a 7 min project! Any bros face this slow render problem?

Did you resize all your photo before bring in to premiere or ae? If you resize to the actual video size, it should cut down the rendering time:-)

I am starting to use AE also. When i reduce the Quality, Size, Audio, it helps with the rendering speed. Find these at the bar under 'Render Queue'..

Purge before you render. And resize your photos if it is Hi Res. Make use of your cores. Enable Multiprocessing and reserve the ram for applications to 0.5 will do. Close all other applications
