Streets at Night
Hi,
Just sharing some photographs from my night time walkabouts...
A lonely stroll along the night streets is like therapy to me...

Sometimes, the stroll turns into a long prayer...

With me repeatedly asking my God to show me how he feels...

Thanks for looking.

It would have been a stronger image if you could just push up the exposure on your subjects.
Also a caption would be nice as it allows the viewers to feel the thoughts of what you want to express.

Re: Streets at Night
Hi Bcool,
Thanks for commenting, I really appreciate it...
I actually tried to push the exposure up on the subject when I was processing this photo on Aperture, but I when I did so, to much grain showed up, so I pulled it back down. I'll be re-processing this one when I get hold of a good software for reducing noise, or when I'm able to get a better scanner.
Kind Regards,
Day

Re: Streets at Night
You shot this series on b/w film with a rangefinder camera?

Re: Streets at Night
Hi Bcool,
These shots were taken with color negative film, ISO 400 Kodak, and desaturated through Aperture. Just this Wednesday I found some ISO 1600 Fujifilm color negative film at a shop inside the Peninsula and I have it on on my camera now. Yes, I'm using a rangefinder camera, an old M6.
Thanks so much for visiting my thread... Please feel free to share some more comments/critiques that I could use to improve my photography.
Kind Regards,
Day

Err....I'm curious....why use a color negative film and desat them? Wouldn't using a b/w film for street photography be more appriopiate. Personally, I like the Tmax400 for street because of its' graininess and but then again, you have your own preference.
Do post your pics taken with the ISO1600 film after you process them. Love to see how they turn out.

Re: Streets at Night
I like to have the option of color for photos of my family, I guess that's all the reason I have for using color negatives. I haven't tried b/w film yet, but I'm sure I'll be putting one in my camera sooner or later. Tmax400 would be first on my list, I guess, just for the curiosity of you mentioning it, although I'm not so fond of grain. Yes, I'll be posting some of my shots with the ISO 1600 film once finished.
Thanks again, very much...
Kind Regards,

I really like the mood you try to bring out. But... maybe it is just me... but I find some of the shots pretty eerie...

Re: Streets at Night
Hi rhino123,
Thanks for taking the time to comment. I'm actually making an effort to avoid "eerie", but it still manages to creep in on some of my photos. I've come to accept this fact and I've embraced it - if it's there, it's ok, if it's not, much better... But I'm happy that it's just some and not all that you find eerie...

Re: Streets at Night
If I'd score this series on a scale of 1 to 10:
As a street photography series: 1
As an abstract photography series: 11
Really love the b/w. You have a creatively creepy way of seeing nice things from common scenes

Re: Streets at Night
Thanks bro, I enjoyed the "build-up" more than the "let-down"... hahaha!
Hey, the photos were from my walkabouts in the streets, I hope I don't get booted out of here...
I really appreciate the complement...
Kind regards...
