    i own the V2, Nikon F-mount.

sharp even at base aperture f4.5 and f5.6.

the flare control is very good, considering it is a ultra wide lens.

the distortion control is very good too.

for samples, you can check out the sample fotos i've put up in CS landscapes.

all are shot at 12mm with D800E. minimal photoshop editing, only Curves and USM.

possibly the best value (around S$1.3k) ultra wide lens in the market.

Excellent distortion control for Sigma's 12-24 is well-known, even for the version 1. Last known for the version 2's pricing is around $125X, version 1 is more expensive at $13XX.

the version 1 is still available and at the shop i frequent, it is readily available.

for V2, you have to place an order.

I'm not sure for now but when i tested the version 2 around a short while back, was readily available too. Version 2 though optically slightly better, but I dun like it's smaller barrel and it's also slightly longer.

Personal prefs lah, I find the version 1 better built.

yup. the potential buyer should test out which version they prefer better.

The version 2 lost the EX designation. I suspect that a fixed aperture EX is in the horizon. Look at their DC lenses.

I used to have the v1. I am annonyed by the bulbous front element which does not handle flare well. The contrast can take a hit. You need to unmount the lens from camera for the gelatine filters. Otherwise a very good lens. Not sure which of these has been addressed by v2.

I am hoping that a 14-24 f4 with 82mm filter EX DG IF OS can be released. Sigma, can you hear me?

i think flare has been controlled very well for V2 considering its huge front element.
not sure how V1 performs as compared to V2 with regards to flare, but from my result, I'm very pleased.

as for the filters, nope, I don't think V2 has it.

It has a protruding front element due to its extent of ultra-wideness, therefore it has to be constructed that way. So far so gd and will be the only lens i'm going to bring for my HK trip next mth.

...quite a number of V1 canon mount going for around $600....but have not seen any Nikon mount ver recently....am tempted to get the V2, but at 2x V1 2nd price.....I am holding back a bit to consider if its worth 2x the price.

Perhaps becos Nikon has their 14-24 but at twice the price of Sigma's 12-24.

U can't compare 2nd hand price and new set price and do u know that a new v1 12-24 is a bit more expensive than the v2?

    Just FYI.

the Sigma 12-24 V2 is quite soft at the sides/corners (with D800E), even at f14.

it is pin sharp in the center region.

I bought it second hand but it was like brand new. The person I bought it from hardly used it. He gave me the original box and pouch. Very good deal!
