    Default Nikon 18-105 & Nikon 35 to tamron 17-50 F2.8

hi guys, i am thinking of selling my nikon lens and getting a tamron 17-50 F2.8

in terms of optics, the tamron F2.8 should be better? and it is constant F2.8 throughout the range.

also lighter to bring one lens instead of two? and no need to change lens

purpose would be to take landscape and portrait

    what do u guys think?

35/1.8 is one of those lenses I would keep even if I go to a F2.8 zoom. It is actually totally up to you. But don't expect too much from F2.8, even indoors at times, F2.8 is not enough to get a shutter speed fast enough.

if other than the fast factor, would u consider tamron 17-50 over nikon 35 & nikon 18-105?

I have both the Nikon 35mm f/1.8 and the Tamron 17-50mm f/2.8 and I prefer the former so much more. It is lighter, and the faster aperture is most useful.

In fact, the Tamon has been relegated to from a 17 - 50mm to a "17mm-or-50mm" lens for much of my use. Anything in between and I prefer to use my Nikon.

    hi blur shadow and daredevil123:

hmm... so ur still prefer the 1.8 than the 2.8 ar? the main consideration is the aperture?

or is there any certain circumstances that i might overlook that your can point out, so that i can appreciate this lens more :P

I really don't know how to answer this question from you. I don't know what you might have overlooked or not overlooked. If you cannot appreciate the focal length or the aperture, there is nothing anyone can do or say to make you like it. You really have to shoot more and understand why a 35/1.8 is good.

i can understand the large aperture, but the focal length... cos i have shoot from 17 to 50, and 35 is within...

That means you have no need for wide apertures. In the end you have to determine what is more important for your own needs.

I guess you have answer your question about shooting landscape and portrait 17 - 50 will be good. But if you have itchy hands maybe you can consider to get the 35mm at a later part of your photography passion. jt my 2 cents

haha, i have the 18-105 the last time to cover the range, then the 35mm to cover the fast aperture... means i already have both
