Just got a 24mm Tilt Shift lens, it has threads on the front that can fit a 72mm filter, but the front element looks like it sticks out quite a bit. Anyone tried? Some filters have shallower or deeper threads (eg. B+W vs Hoya Pro 1).
The manual recommends Canon filters only - but hard to find locally. Any other recommendations? |

look @ your lens, there are indication lines, white and red. when using film or full frame DSLR, dont go to the red section (ie tilt or shift), will give vig effect.
try step up to 77 or 82 if using a/m. else, if use on 20d, 10d, 300d, d60, d30. no problem to go into the red zone, also no problem to stack CP ontop of V or Skylite because of 1.6x. not sure about 1d & 1dmkll though, 1.3x.

Thanks Dennis,
Will look for some step-up adaptors today. Still learning to play with this lens. Cheers. |

How do you qualify your sweeping statements, if you please? |

May not be totally marketing BS on Canon's part. The front element sticks out quite a bit, and if any aftermarket filters have glass that is too low down or thicker, etc, there is a real possibility of touching/scratching the front element.
More of a kiasu statement on Canon's part - nothing wrong with that in this case. Was just checking with everyone else's practical and real experience on using other brand filters with this lens. Got great answers and thanks. |
