Default Nov 30 -D Day for some Salt Water Critters

Hi
Just in case you want to know .. on Nov 30 the Govt
will FILL UP Clfford Pier area. All the sea creatures
inside will die off and all the salt water creatures
like turtles fish and other things will be trapped and die.

The water will eventually become 'stagnent' to some
extent because now .. used water will only flow
into the 'marina Lake' now.

I think there will be a stench
I guess they will have to get rid of
the trapped salt water asap.

It is possible all the long kang life will die off
so no more sim lim square wild life ..
(no more high tide/low tide in the longkangs)

This is what I understand.

Wah piang serious or not! Feeling sad and angry to hear that this is happening . I am staying just right opposite the big longkang of sim lim. What will happen to these poor wildlife if this big longkang is affected by the project...no more little herons, egrets, kingfishers, tons of wide species of longkang fishes and other poor creatures staying around the water edge.

Btw, can share where did you got the new from? I would really like to take a look. Thanks

Cheers

That is the govement plan for getting more water for Singapore.
It was widely reported in the newspapers.

Nov 30 is the D Day and a lot of fishing boats will go
there in the middle of this month for a LAST GASP photo
shoot fishing trip.. (dunno catch what) I believe
on the 20th the harbour queen will depart from
keppel for that trip.

It will be a scene to capture. All the Sim Lim rivers
and other rivers (look at topo map of SG ) will
be Stagnent and tideless.. if you look at the
crap flowing into the sim lim (rochor canal)
you can even see detergent, bubbles and other
nasty stuff.

But because of the tides this was not so bad
as pollution flows to the sea..

But now 100% sealed.. too bad..

It will be a dull but historic event to photo
graph the sealing of the marina bay on
NoV 30.

Come to think of it there aren't much natural places left in Singapore that we can shoot wildlife in their nature habitats, Sime forest, SBWR, Bukit Timah, SBG and some smaller parks (not refering those captive animal found in Zoo or BP). Reservoirs kena used for water spots and now Marina South and related rivers and longkangs also kena affected. Next time want to shoot nature and wildlife, think must go to Malaysia or Indonesia to shoot.

Cheers

Another nice place (requires your own vehicle) is the Choa Chu Kang
Cemetry bordering the Poyan Lake (army live firing area) there are
lots of wildlife there, snakes birds of prey and hardly anyone around
except for people doing fishing.

See the Fishing Logo? It is there.

As you drive through the tracks you will be going on
RED MUD ROAD..

I drove all over the place on a 2 wheel drive
do not go when it rains.. you may get stuck unless
you have 4x4.

You can punch in N1 22.643 E103 40.708 on your gps.

Walk around carefully Nails are everywhere but you can
see very large Weaver bird colony and lots of bird life
there as there is a military restricted lake there..
Where there is water / food there is LIFE

Don't blame me if you dont see anything..
wildlife is seasonal

I would go at 6.00 AM Remembers it rains
heavily nowadays so you may want to trek in.

The ---- shows the red mud roads.

Red Star

I thought that is restricted area.
If you go to the FISH (NOT red star) and you FACE the
poyan lake you will see a long series of 'no trespassing' signs.
They act as a 'virtual fence'.

DO NOT cross into these areas as you could be arrested.
You just walk along the outside slowly as you should .

you can see many vehicles parked along that place but no
one is around. I saw people carrying fishing rods , then they
disappear.
