Hi there!
I'm seeking advice and opinions from all on the forum as to what is a recommended A3 sized printer for home use? I'm presently looking at the Canon i9950 but am not sure as to its running costs. Can anybody advise? Also, what are good altrenatives to the Canon i9950, bearing running costs in mind? Cheers! ![]() |

I use the i9950 at work...must say that it is very good.....excellent colors and prints at a very fast speed too.... Ink consumption wise...its quite ok......think epson consumes more ink..... However if you keep printing A3 borderless on photopaper....after about 6 sheets...you will have to start changing inks... |

Hi Robin,
I've been using my friend's i9950 to print my photos, and I've been getting about 30 plus A4 borderless print, or about 20 A3 prints before the first ink runs out (usually PC or PM). I think 6 pcs of A3 borderless print should not consume so much ink to warrant a change in ink cartidges. Do check it out to see if everything is alright... especially since Canon printers are covered by on-site warranty... Just my two cents... the i9950 is a fantastic printer! If you wanna buy, wait till SITEX (coming soon...), cuz usually there're some good offers there... |

How much more or less is its running cotsts against Epson or HP A3 printer equivalent? What about Canon paper, are they more expensive? What about the other consumables? ![]() |

One thing about buying it first is you must ask yourself whether you NEED it. If you don't use it often, the print head WILL clot like mine. after warranty expire, you have to pay like $1000-$200 for the print head. The print head WILL CLOT if you don't use it often. Other than that bad point, the prints are quite nice, much better than your normal photo lab as you have full control. |

I've a Canon i9950 for office use. I'm using it to churn out colour proofs for design stuff, as well as printing my personal portfolio. It's been running very reliably for the past year, and I've been printing design proofs, documents and photos everyday. Wind30 has a valid point... you'd need to be printing something at least once every two weeks to condition any inkjet printers head. And like him, I like printing my own photos because it affords me the full control, over the colours as well as choice of paper.
Heard from some dealers that Epson and Canon will not be at the PC Show... the Epson 2100 is a good deal at $900 plus (discounted from the $1200 previously). But the Canon i9950 is newer and still cheaper... |
