Default What's the best wide angle lens....

Hi there,

Just got myself a 10D. Can you guys comment on what's the best wide angle lens to get?

Assuming a small budget of $500-600. Used or new does not matter.

I think u mus be using canon 10D, then go for 17-40 F4L lense. Which cost u $1280 from alan photo. This is the best wide angle so far or u may try getting the third party lense sigma 17-35 f2.8 - 4 .Which cost u about $880 from Alan Photo. They are consider the best wide angle lense.

Try to budget for a Canon 17-40L, can't go wrong there. A used one can be bought for around $1000, sometimes less. You won't need another super wide zoom after that... well, maybe the 16-35L.

Or a Sigma 12-24?

For about the same money, I'd go for the 17-40. The 12-24 is a bit too soft for my liking.

Or you could try a tamron 17-35/2.8-4 Di, which after using and seeing the results I'll probably never be selling

Hi guys,

Thanks for the useful comments.

Would love the canon 17-40 if I got the dough but unfortunately not at the moment.

Btw, what's the price of the Sigma 15-30 and Tamron 17-35 when new?

That would be a wise decision too. I just got the Tamron 17-35 and am very happy with it. Focussing is not as fast as the Canon 17-40, but that's a decision you have to make.

How much you paid for it?
