Default Some inhabitants from the Long Kang (First Posting)

This is my first posting, hope to share the photos and hear some comments.

These are some of the inhabitants from the Long Kang near my house

Egretta Thula (Snowy Egret)

Some White Throated King Fisher (In fact there are 4 of them) I can only show some recorded shots as all the shots are really bad.

I hope I got all the names right. In fact there are some other inhabitants other then those I show. Will hopefully capture them (photographs of cause) and share with you guys.

Hope to learn more from you guys.

Regards

I think for this region, we use Little Egret more.
There is a very slight difference.

Your little egret is really a great capture. Very detailed, which lens did you use and how close were you? I am sure the originals are even better as your filesize is only 48K which is very small. Else you must be very close, need some skills here to get so close even though they are common.

Thank you 2100 for your comments. Well I was around 10 metres away. Anyway my setup was the Bigma with 2xTC and the focal length for this shot is 1000 mm full extension with tripod. Was quite surprised the image came out OK. However, have to pump up the ISO because the lack of good lighting.

Pretty good catch there. Not too bad considering you used 2 xTC.

Using the 50-500 too, and most of the time cannot really use the Sigma EX TC2x. Gotta stop down to f20-22, else at f13-16, you only get a bigger image but quality is worse than 50-500 by itself. What this means is that you take a pic from the 50-500 only and resize to 200%, then compare side by side with another pic with the 2X. The 50-500 pic w/o 2X wins as far as optical quality (ie CA, absolute optical resolution, contrast) is concerned. Coz no point having more pixels but of much worse quality.

Shall try out what you suggest and compare the results. The other thing is losing the AF function when TC are attached to the Bigma.

Thanks and Regards

Commendable efforts there, given that you were using a 2X TC with the Sigma 50-500. Not the best of combos under any circumstance but surprisngly the image quality is acceptable here, especially the Little Egret shot. What aperture did you stop down to?

Exactly the same question that I wanted to ask. The LE shot is pretty acceptable

The aperture was f/13. Yes I was also quite surprise of the quality of that particular shot where there were actually 4 to 5 keepers.
