Default Getting a demo on Nikon Coolscan 5000 ED

Went to CP today and was recommended this scanner... Nikon Coolscan 5000 ED. Is there a place (perhaps Nikon show room) where I can get a demo on this baby?

no idea but from personal experience that scanner is damned amazing
dynamic range ain't as subtle as the imacon scanner but it's much cheaper for sure!

You own one? I'm kinda interested but not sure of its optical performance. I currently have a Canon 5200F flatbed scanner. Results for negatives scanning are very poor. Very narrow dynamic range.

i own it. very nice quality. the nikon coolscan 5000ED is about $2100. the coolscan V is about $1300. haven't seen or heard about the imacon film scanner but flatbeds r just not up to it if u want very hi-quality. if u want extreme hi-quality, go to a drum scanner (it cost past the $20k mark).

u can also consider the minolta film scanner for about $650. not too bad.
