Getting a demo on Nikon Coolscan 5000 ED
Went to CP today and was recommended this scanner... Nikon Coolscan 5000 ED. Is there a place (perhaps Nikon show room) where I can get a demo on this baby?

no idea but from personal experience that scanner is damned amazing
dynamic range ain't as subtle as the imacon scanner but it's much cheaper for sure! |

You own one? I'm kinda interested but not sure of its optical performance. I currently have a Canon 5200F flatbed scanner. Results for negatives scanning are very poor. Very narrow dynamic range.

i own it. very nice quality.
 the nikon coolscan 5000ED is about $2100. the coolscan V is about $1300. haven't seen or heard about the imacon film scanner but flatbeds r just not up to it if u want very hi-quality. if u want extreme hi-quality, go to a drum scanner (it cost past the $20k mark).u can also consider the minolta film scanner for about $650. not too bad. |
