Default Noise is good for FZ3 & FZ20?

Just come across this website :
http://www.digicamhelp.com/panasonic-fz3-blog/index.htm

It mentions about the noise of FZs as follows:

"The FZ3 does exhibit a reasonalby high degree of noise compared to many other digicams, especially if you compare it to say a Canon S1is.
Let me tell you, noise ain't necessarily a bad thing. Most digicams would exhibit awful noise if it were not for the in-built noise reduction processes.
Unfortunately often the noise reduction process knocks the life out of sharpness and detail, with many cameras it doesn't matter because their lenses are not up to the job anyway.
Panasonic seem to take a very different approach, first of all they produce a lens which is incredibly sharp (sharper than Canons), and then they preserve the detail by not processing the noise out of the file.
This means you have a better raw material to work with. "

It sounds reasonable, what's your opinion?

Cheers

If you are a perfectionist when Tiff images will help you achieve some very good images. Try it.

For FZ20, Picture Adjustment mode got 4 functions one of which is NOISE REDUCTION. The manual (page 73) suggested thatwe should set it to HIGH. Maybe Panasonic was conservative in the noise reduction for FZ20 and NORMAL setting is with not much noise reduction.
Some people even recommend setting NOISE REDUCTION to LOW for better resolution.
I really don't know what setting to choose.

I think Pana's design is good because it provides the choices for users. If we have good S/W, I guess we should choose LOW and let our S/W do the noise reduction. It'd be more effective and we can control the editing by ourselves.

If we want to make it easy, and can stand with the performance of the build-in noise reduction function, we can choose NORMAL or even HIGH.

Unfortunately, I don't have this settingfor my FZ3

It's noise vs details.

Mine set to std (in-between la).
