Yeah. A simple google can tell TS millions.

I spend less than 30sec and this is what I get,

ref:17-85mm vs 15-85mm - Canon Digital Photography Forums

    Extra 2mm on wide end
Newer IS technology (really much of a difference, though?)
Better build (though build of 17-85IS was never an issue for me). The 15-85IS feels like a tank compared to the 17-85IS.
Definitely sharper at the borders, particularly on the wide end
Somewhat sharper at the center, more so at the wide end than the long end
Slightly faster at the wide end (3.5 vs 4)

ref: Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens Review
While the Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens and the Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USM Lens seem similar in specs and even appearance, the 15-85 is a significant upgrade in image quality. The 15-85 has a usefully wider focal length/angle of view available. The 17-85's advantage at review time is price.
    So what do you think?

I am not a photographer, just someone who happened to have a couple of cameras.

One other weakness of the 17-85 is the flexible connector. This part seems to fail on quite a few lenses after a couple of years use. Mine failed after I sold it -- it was the same evening, so I took it back. Cost me about $100 to repair. I think there are several Canon lenses that are prone to this.
That said, I had no real issues with the image quality. Yes, record-setting barrel distortion and somewhat soft corners and chromatic aberration, but if you worked within its limitations, a decent lens. Very quick focusing, useful IS and for me the perfect range, covering 90% of my needs.
The 15-85 is attractive because it's all that, and a little more range and image quality. Dunno if has the same issue with the connector though -- hasn't been on the market long enough!
