All these in one day? Good catch.

The pied fantail looks brownish. The ones I have seen in the field and in books are blackish (with white in some areas) in colour.

erwinx, the bg for the robin lit-up like a bulb. just happened that the light was illuminating some refective ferns in the bg.

skfoo, they r today's catch. not all here in fact! well i just need to stay within the 10x10m2 area for them to pop up one by one from 10am to 4pm.

As for the color cast, i found that if the bg is brownish, the bird will look black whilst w a green bg, the feathers appear brown. maybe just some color cast.

one more thing, i gonna need some tuition on flight shots for the bee-eaters. hope to get some pointers.

Pic #1 looks cute!
Big head small body - just like tweety bird.

Just three more to complete today's catch.

Storkbilled Kingfisher (Junior kept crying for mum's attention!)

Olive-backed Sunbird (Look at those baby fat around the tummy!)

Ducky duck (Cat's out of the bag. Oops)

Great shots, you really had a very fruitful catch today. Love the Magpie Robin shot, the saturated background makes it stand out.

Just checked. The pix shows a juvenile. Adult has evenly colored dark brown plumages. I got the description from Paul Huang's site. He caught the adult and juvenile in early september.

Great pictures Jeff . I liked the Magpie Robin, the background is lovely. Very nice capture of KF, in my PC it appears to have slight orange cast.

the orange cast may originate from the warming filter 80 i applied to these pixs. it makes the pixs more natural looking this way. will take note. thanks

Interesting series you have there. It is heartwarming to know that we (still) have so many winter visitors to our island state.
