Thanks for the kind comments.

My pbase cannot hotlink lar.

I pasted your link in a new window, i know what you mean. That was shot at 500mm perspective. It's pretty difficult to get direct view of the wakeboarder with the expression and all. Coz they have around 26 seconds to jump and they jump at different zones. And once they fall, they will pick up and continue again from there. Then there's the height factor as well as background (you want the reservoir water or the treeline horizon like that pic you chose). Etc etc....So it's all down to luck. 5 and 8fps and a fast zoom lens like 100-300/2.8 with or without 1.4TC definitely helps.

And then there's the contrast. Have to be careful of blowing the white shirts of the contestants under full sunlight. I shot in RAW so still ok.

Can use your 50-500 too, extremely versatile and gives you quite a bit of advantage. But I switched to 70-200/2.8 and shot at 3.5, 4 when the dark clouds started to roll in. Cannot get too close to the action coz the rocks are out-of-bounds. 200mm is really a bit short, you only get when they come into a 30 deg arc from you, so you would be shooting "perpendicular". Then the backside might be facing you depending on which side of the wake they are jumping from.

Yeah, this is definitely more difficult to shoot than the Powerboats. Powerboats moves horizontally, so need to follow by panning only. Also, powerboats are much bigger than this wakeboard. So, at about the same distance, need a longer lens. When the subject jumps, you need to tilt, and pan at the same time, so double the difficulties. So, need to anticipate the jump to catch the action. Maybe, that is the reason why there are fewer posts this time compared with the Powerboats.

Well, I have about 100 more able-to-show ones. Too lazy to PS. These 33 photos took me 1.5 hrs to PP.
