What shutterspeed were you using, tripod? MF/AF? Somehow the focus does not look spot on, slightly out of focus.

1st shot could do with more post-processing saturation and contrast, think it got blown by the flash.

Both were taken with flash sync at 1/250.. I guess it was slight out of focus becoz after lock on, i adjust a bit for composition.. very hard to focus on the damsefly

Did u used tripod for the shot? Maybe try MF next time for such subjects, and tripod for more sharpness and stability. 1st shot exposure looks ok to me.

what setup do u use and why did you use 1/250sec ?

The object appears soft and the color is a bit dull .. try to increase the saturation
