    u dun win with your good photos, you win with the most number of friends on facebook voting for you.

    Me too. i hated facebook competition. You don't need good camera, lens or skills. What you need is lot of friends to support. Waste time participating in such contests.

    hi gentleman,
    there r 2 contest... 1 for Facebook which target at beginner to amateur level so that they got chance to participate n hopefully they will bcome as pro as u guy.
    The 2nd contest(toa payoh in 48hr) is based on a panel of judges to determine winner...

    It would be great if you could provide the full T&Cs/Rules & Regulations, with specific focus on copyrights and any possible use of any or all photos, regardless of whether they are winning photos or not.

    Perhaps I might have missed it ...

    HOW TO PARTICIPATE?



    Registration for the competition



    You may register online at onePA (Activity code A17544251), or register at any CC near you.



    The competition will be open for registration from 1 October 2011 till 12 November 2011. The registration fee is FREE.



    On the event day, collect your competition pack at Toa Payoh Central CC at the stipulated hours and start your exciting 48 hours of photo snapping.



    Competition packs collection info:

    Date/Time: Friday, 18 November, 6.30 9.30pm

    Venue: Toa Payoh Central CC

    * Please bring along your NRIC for verification and collection of the competition packs.

    Submission



    Participants are requested to pre-select their final photos for the competition and submit to the counters set up at Toa Payoh Central CC.



    Submission Time: Sunday, 20 November 2011, 3pm - 8pm.



    3 simple steps to submit the photo

    1) Choose the photo you wish to submit and take note of the filename.

    2) Take out the storage card from the camera and pass it to the submission officer at the booth, and tell him the file name/number.

    3) Enter the title and description into a worksheet for judging purpose. Participants will be given a receipt for successfully submitted entries.

    Rules:

    * Participants can use any digital camera during the event.
    * All photos taken must reflect the theme of the competition and must be taken within the boundaries of Toa Payoh.
    * All submissions for Category B must be taken within the 48 hours from 18 Nov (Fri) 6.30pm till 20 Nov 6.30pm.
    * Only digital images are accepted. All photographs submitted MUST be in JPEG format and sized to approximately minimum 5MB.
    * All photograph works must be original and unpublished. The participant must also be the original copyright owner and author of every photograph submitted.
    * Entries (soft copy) should be submitted along with a title and description.
    * Deadline for submission will be 8pm on 20 November 2011 sharp. The organisers reserves the rights to reject any submission after the deadline.
    * All submissions are final. Further changes will not be allowed.
    * Each participant may submit a maximum of 4 (four) entry in this competition.
    * Adding or removing key elements of the composition is strongly discouraged. Excessively manipulated photos will be disqualified.
    * Storage format accepted are CF / SD / MMC / XD / MS formats. Participants using other formats must supply their own relevant adaptors / drives for use during the submission of entries during the event. The Organizers will not be held responsible for the inability to read / download images.
    * The Organisers will not be responsible for providing photographic equipment including camera, spare batteries, lenses or additional memory cards. All participants are expected to come prepared with all their photographic equipment. Please be aware that no charging facilities will be provided.

    JUDGING CRITERIA



    All entries will be judged based on the following criteria:

    * Relevance to theme
    * Creativity in theme interpretation: Use of caption and descriptions
    * Use of colours and light / shadows
    * Composition of photograph

    Do's

    * Please remember to bring NRIC For registration for the Event and the submission of photographs.
    * Be creative in interpreting the themes.
    * Return early so that you have time to select and download your best pictures.
    * Pre-select your best image so that you can download quickly.



    Don'ts

    * Do not trespass into private property.
    * Do not be a nuisance in public, and DO NOT break the law under any circumstances.

    TOA PAYOH PHOTOGRAPHY COMPETITION 2011

    1.

    The Memory Lane of Toa Payoh Toa Payoh Photography Competition
    2011 ("Event") is an event open to all.

    2.

    All information including personal information submitted by the participant to
    Toa Payoh Central CC YEC and its sub-club, Toa Payoh Photography Club
    ("Organisers") in connection with the event shall become the property of the
    Organisers. The participant is deemed to have given the Organisers
    authorisation to use such information for any purpose (including market
    research, planning, data-processing, statistical and risk-analysis).

    3.

    The Organisers reserve the right to cancel the event at any time without notice.
    In the event of such cancellation, the Organisers shall use reasonable efforts to
    inform the participant prior to the date of the event.

    4.

    The stated event timings are subjected to changes.

    5.

    Participants must abide by the competition rules, and by any decisions made by
    the Organizer.

    6.

    Participants under the age of 21 must obtain parental consent. All participants
    must print the relevant indemnity form, sign it and submit it on the day of the
    event.

    7.

    The Organisers reserve the right to use/reproduce/display any submitted
    photograph for any artistic or non-commercial purposes without compensation
    to the participants.

    8.

    The Organisers reserve the right to disqualify any participant who has infringed
    any of the competition rules.

    9.

    Decisions by the Organisers and competition judges are final. No queries will
    be entertained.

    10. All nationalities are welcomed.

    11. There will be no refund for any cancellation of participation or non-attendance.

    12. The Organisers reserve the right to amend the Terms & Conditions without
    prior notice.

    13. By submitting their photographs and participating in the Event, the participants
    are deemed to have accepted the terms and conditions as stated by the
    Organisers.

    Note: Organisers' decisions are final. No appeals or correspondence will be
    entertained. The Organisers reserve the right to amend, delete or add to these terms
    and conditions at any time without prior notice, and to cancel, postpone or terminate
    this contest at any time without prior notice and without any liability on its part
    whatsoever. All prizes are not exchangeable for cash or otherwise. The Organisers
    reserve the right to substitute, add to or alter any of the prizes offered without any
    notice. The Organisers shall have the right to edit and use all photographs taken for
    and during this contest in any manner deem appropriate, including but not limited to
    using the photos on Facebook websites, in commercials and any other media.

    why get so worked out? competition always got different kind of rules ma... or ways to win.. i think its more transparent than those with judges inside. i think competition with judges are the worst kind u can join with prospect of winning..
    bottom line is, dont like the rules dont join... no need to get worked out..

    neither. any competition IS unfair. i can prove to u why FB is not fair.
    treat it as a lucky draw and move on

    mi looking at this, being more of a "Community Building" event than an actual photography competition.
    but it would encourage young students to take interest in photography.
