I am considering upgrading from Oly C5050 to Nikon D70 and am using it for streeting shooting, portraits, night shooting and travelling. My budget is about S$5K and I am considering the following options:
Option 1: Nikon D70 Body AF Nikor 85mm F1.4D AF Nikor 50mm F1.4D Nikon SB800 Nikor L37C UV Filter Nikon MH-19 Charger Lowepro or Crumpler bag Option 2: Nikon D70 Body AF Nikor 85mm F1.4D AF Nikor 28mm F1.4D Nikon SB800 Nikor L37C UV Filter Nikon MH-19 Charger Lowerpro and Crumpler bag Please provide your comments and if possible whether my setup in Option 1 and 2 meets my budget. Many thanks and looking forward to be a Nikonian soon. |

Why not go for all the three lens
AF Nikor 28mm F1.4D AF Nikor 50mm F1.4D AF Nikor 85mm F1.4D You would have cover the wider end, mid, far end. You appreciate it when you travel. |

They are ideal choice but for the $ I think you may need a deeper pocket. The 28mm cost around $3k and 85mm $2k.

you are not able to do good landscape shooting even with the 28mm because its not really wide on a D70 with its 1.5x focal length multiplier effect.

If you are into landscapes... choose from the following
Wide end 20mm (can be either the Nikon or Sigma) If you prefer a wide zoom go for the Sigma 12-24... the imgae quality is good and its very affordable. Tele end 50mm (f1.8 version is good enough... its cheap, light snd good) pass on the 85mm unless you are into portraiture... its a nice lens but a tele zoom is more versatile... get a 2nd hand 80-200 as well... good lens to have for landscape.

If i am not mistaken.. Nikon 50f1.4 is manual lens..
For someone that uses oly5050... not sure if this is your choice? Perhaps can buy 50mmf1.8 and save 200+ on something else. Also, seems like you prefer to have prime lens? Why don;t consider getting the kit lens? My suggestion: D70 kit with 18-70mm S$2100 Nikon 50mm f1.8 - S$175? Nikon 80-200ED - $1600 SB800 - $625? CF cards - 2*1gb Lexar 40x = $300? Spare EN-L3 batteries - 100? All for the princely sum of S$4,900 estimated! i think you may get slightly cheaper.... |

Dunk the 50 f/1.4, go for the f/1.8 instead.
AF-S 18-70 DX would suit your needs just nice. The AF 85 f/1.4 will set you back by $1600+, although it's a to drool for len, just hope you counter check your budget For street shooting, a zoom len would be ideal, but alternatively, the 50 f/1.8 can fufill it well. Portraits too. For landscape the 18-70DX would serve as the wider zoom. |

From your post it looks like you are going only for good glass and quality.
If that is the case why not consider the following and forget the charger, you can still use the single battery charger and D70 battery last a long time. But your budget may be slightly low due to the 28mm f1.4 as the rest will set you back by over $4k already. Nikon D70 Body AF Nikor 85mm F1.4D AF Nikor 50mm f1.8 AF Nikor 28mm F1.4D Nikon SB800 Nikor L37C UV Filter Lowerpro and Crumpler bag
