Default Calibrating shutter speed

Hello All,

I just had my Nikon F3 inspected by a technician and he said that the shutter speeds faster than 1/250 were off by half a stop. The price he quoted for repair was kinda on the higher side.

Do you think a difference of half a stop will affect the photos badly?

Thanks for all the answers.

Wait.. half stop up or half stop down? If it's up your images will be under, if it's down your images will be over. calibration is expensive, but you'll need it.

HI Vikaskau,

Now that you know that your shutter speed is off by 0.5 stop for speeds above 1/250sec (I'll assume under), then why not just compensate instead of having your camera fixed? Maybe do some brackets first to try to see whether his diagnosis is correct. If you find that your camera does consistently shoot 0.5 under (or over) above 1/250, then just compensate.

cheers,
