Hi damithc, yap... all these are taken without close up filter. Basically my camera is about 2 to 5cm away from the subject. About the background crab, haha, I waited very long to get this shot guess it doesn't work huh.

Hi zerofour, me also dun know the name... but they are all over the rocky side of the beach. Like the mudskipper, they will hide when you walk near... but will soon comes out. That mudskipper shot was a lucky shot.

Thanks amirhamzah1980

Glad you guys like it

Very sharp and nice nature shots, Melvyn. Good and eye-pleasing compositions for a number of the crab shots.

don't get discouraged. dumb ol me.. didn't notice what you were going for there. i too once squatted for a long time on st. john's island beach for those crabs to come out of their holes. my photos didn't come out as nice as what you have posted here. well done!

once i tried covering the flash with several layer of tissue paper to soften the light. outcome was not too bad (poor man's omnibounce ? )

Hi Melvin,

Good catch and nice composition... colour saturation could help a little, but this is purely personal.

Cheers

Thanks Papilio for your kind comments

Hi Federick, thanks... I am using Sanyo DSC J1. It's just a simple P&S with 1cm macro.

Hi Damithc, no worry man... will try the tissue method... thanks

Hi Xaer, point noted. Thanks
