Maybe my question is not clear.

My pic from a prime lens is not rich in colour without PP & is straight from cam.

    What is wrong with it?

    Setting issue?

    Lens issue?

    Photographer issue?

    Or other issue?

Most pics posted online are not genuine SOOC. Sure got some adjustments like tone, contrast etc done before posting. Some people consider that SOOC also cos it's not intensive photoshop work.

    Don't think too much.

Not sure if this is relevant...I remember some website saying

    1) White Balancing
That the Camera does not know what kind of color we want, so they select the color they think is the most appropriate (I believe via the grey tone). So in a way the color of the photo is the photographer's responsibility to get the "correct" color back.

    2) Saturation/Contrast/Sharpness
There are quite a few picture styles choosing the different combination (e.g. Vivid, Contrasty, B/W etc). But most camera will have a default which the saturation probably is not popping as much as you wanted. If so, you may want to find the correct picture style/custom style to suit your liking. (if you never set/adjust, it's the photographer's problem -.-)

    3) RAW
If you are shooting raw, as far as Canon is concerned, if you use LR or PS to open the RAW then convert to JPEG w/o adjusting the curves/tones etc, the picture will be dull....(exactly what the camera sensor "saw")

The 1 & 2 applies to shooting in JPEG...
